Good news and bad news really ... I did it and feel great that I’ve stuck to the schedule and done exactly as directed by Jo W - in fact I’m really proud of myself 😊
The bad news was that I didn’t really enjoy it so much - painful lower legs, especially the right shin - and the walking bits were REALLY tough....... I could barely lift my feet and sort of wished I could keep shuffling instead!
I guess this is all part of building up slowly but surely?

Hi Stratters, I'm about to start week 3, first run tomorrow and I'm bricking it! I liked the routine of weeks 1 and 2, and I'm nervous about being able to do 3 minutes in one go. I'm like you though, when walking I feel like my pace is awful and I'm just shuffling along. You're right though, it's all part of building up strength and stamina! You're doing great.
Cheers Saz - don’t be afraid of the 3 min bursts - they pass really quick but I deliberately slowed the pace - so much so my whippet wasn’t even having to trot alongside!
I did it! The first 3 minute stretch was tough but I think when I do it again on Thursday it won't be so bad. I'm just pleased I managed it without stopping!
Well done Stratters! Check where your foot falls when you run, ie make sure it's under your body rather than a little bit forward. Do loads of those shin stretches!
CP2 .. you just made me laugh out loud.. it’s not what you said, it’s what my mind thought & imagined you just said .. my weird mind said “watch where your foot falls, make sure it’s under your body .. rather than in the gutter on the other side of the road” 😂 apologies in advance to all .. but my own mind made me chuckle there based on my own previous experience of feeling the pain when running.
Great job on the run... as above, footfall and shoes could be culprits, slowing down (noted above you have) and soft surfaces may help a little too. Maybe take an extra rest day?
Shatters .. you have my full sympathy, I have had sore shin & shin splints before and it hurts .. try some compression socks too - excellent work getting this far though 👍🙌
