Run 2 over today. Feeling great but a bit worried about Friday run 3 because of freezing rain forecast. Ať worst, I may have to postpone. Any tips fór clothing and route choice in really nasty weather? And how nasty Is too nasty fór you?

Age: 52. Gender: female. Reason: I am tired observing my slowly expanding waistline.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Ice and deep snow are just about the only thing that should stop you, as long as you wear layers and protect your extremities.

I started C25K in the middle of the year, so had developed the habit by my first winter...........those starting at this time of year have my admiration.

Enjoy your journey.

Follow the link....I Graduated December 17th 2015... wind, rain, hail and snow... the only time I did not run.. was when there was ice...I stuck to road and lane... but ran early morning... I had leggings... a jacket... ( not waterproof but warm) .. a thermal bob hat and later.. when a forum friend advised it a Buff... and gloves:) I have six Buffs now:)

I also had crisp starlit mornings... with the sparkle of an air frost.. the glint of Christmas lights and the shadowy ghost of a pale moon in a deep blue velvet sky....:)

This will be one of the best things you have ever done!

PS

High Viz and head torches re useful too, if you run early or late... and rain..it's just wet... freezing rain... cold and wet..just get inside before the ground gets slippery :)

Don't let any weather stop you except ice of course once you are running you forget about the rain etc

Welcome and great job on the first 5 runs. Freezing rain is not nice... how’s the forecast for Saturday? I love the rain in general as long as I have 40 degrees or more (sorry I use old money) 32 and rain is not for me, so I look for a break in the weather or check the next day’s forecast. Hope you get the run in on Friday, if not it will be still there on Saturday... enjoying it is the main thing.

The forecast was very slightly wrong - it was freezing but not raining, and some snow fell overnight. That means NO MUD and I could run on that beautiful path by the stream! Best run so far, just before sunrise, bright, untouched snow. I actually could not resist extending the last run segment to reach a point that I know to be 5 minutes walk from home.

Two observations from this morning:

1) A tight hoodie instead of shirt and hat is not a good idea since the hood keeps pulling my earbuds out. Besides, I am a bit self-conscious looking like a fat ninja.

2) Startled ducks make an awful noise.
