Hey all. Just a quick message to Introduce myself. I'm a 31 year old woman, over weight living with anxiety and depression. Set a life goal for 2019 to start running and get out of the house. I used to run alot when I was younger but lost it over the year. Any helps and tips would be greatful. Loves. ✌

Welcome back to running and the forums. The two people above have forgotten more than I know for sure! Enjoy your journey, you can do this and you’ll feel great doing it.

Good news. You are among friends and we’ve all been there. The hardest bit will be the first 60 second run. Report back on first run when complete.

Very similar to me. I used to do cross-country when I was in school, then I find myself in my 30s and can barely jog to catch the bus! I started Cto5k April 2017 then lapsed until I started back in Sep 2018. I've just completed it, lost 10lbs so far and feel incredible.

My advice is don't worry too much about following the programme to the letter. If you can't do 3 runs per week then do 2. Or 1. But then do the next run when you can fit it in. Or repeat a week. Or keep on repeating a run until you can do it comfortably. I think I repeated Week 6 for 4 weeks cos I didn't feel ready to go to Week 7. Everyone is different so go at your own pace.

I’m so overweight I carry a whole extra person in fat (I call it Ethel) and I’ve been dealing with depression and clinical anxiety periodically for the last ten years. You’re in the safest of hands here. The programme really works and this is the kindest and most helpful forum anywhere. My tips: take it slow and steady, and always remember the First Rule of C25k: The only run you fail is the run you don’t go for ! Enjoy your journey x
