after having a fall, then a bad knee which put me out of action and loosing my confidence with running outside i returned to my treadmill. All was going well then in the middle of October i developed what the GP said was a virus, two weeks later it had turned into a horrendous chest infection , blood tests, antibiotics and chest x-rays ensued!!!!! I had not run for over a month due to feeling so unwell and my oxygen levels had fallen due to a problem in the right lung. Fast forward to the end of November and thankfuly all is now better. Gp said i can resume my running. But i had lost my confidence to venture outside totally. Back to the trusty treadmill and i restarted the program from week 2. I have now reached week 4. But last night i tried a run outside and hey presto i completed a 5 min walk with a 30 min run and the 5min cool down walk at the end. I was so surprised that i did it but soooo happy. My speed has dropped but i dont care, roll on tomorrow evening and i will be back outside again. Fingers crossed i can
build on my speed and get back to where i was a few months ago. One happy runner looking forward to the new year and all it can bring me in terms of fitness once more!!!!

That's some going that you were able to do a 30 minute run after all you'd been through. It just goes to show that after a break we don't lose our fitness completely. Well done and welcome back.
well done on getting back out there you must be very happy, stay well and run well
thank you Slow Rob i am 62 years old now and i know it can take longer to get better when you have been unwell but i feel so lucky that i can resume running as i love it.
Thank you. I agree with your comment about the ''BUGS'' it seems to be this horrible chesty thing with a really bad cough this year rather than the usual norovirus of previous years that is doing the rounds!!!!!!
Every Christmas it is the same we all know someone somewhere who has caught something to spoil the jolly season!!!
Two months down the line i am still suffering with congestion in my head and am more deaf than usual!!!! lol. Have a happy Christmas.
Welcome back after all you've been through. Hang in there and be patient and kind to your body. And it's going so well, Pace yourself and be healthy. Keep on running.
