Hi, I’m Rosa. I’m a 19 year old music student who’s now going into second year at university. I was in catered accommodation for first year, and as a result of the huge meals I was served, I put roughly 7 or 8 kilos onto a body I was already insecure about. I want to lose about 20kg! So here I am, having completed my first run. It was so difficult, I’m so unfit, and I had to sit down and take a rest around my last two runs, but I DID IT! And I’m determined to keep going and get better and fitter. I’ve been tempted to train to do a marathon for a while now, so I could raise money for Mind, so I feel like this is a good start for me to do something I can really feel proud of.
Is there anyone else just starting out?? I’d love some motivation, and to motivate others, too!!! Adding a before picture here so I can look back and see how far Ive come)
Now I’m off to have a shower...

Well done! When it’s hard and you have to pick yourself up and push, that’s a good sign... that means your head has this... your legs will catch up quickly.
I’m two runs in on my return to running, and have a knee injury that I got playing on the beach after second one. You will have caught me by the time I run again!
Yo yo yo youth, I see your gangsta pose, and you look down in da hood! 😂
We all started out pretty much the same, out of breathe and exhausted! I know I did, and I've just finished week eight. Trust in the programme and listen to your trainer, you'll be fine. 😁
🤣👏 take no notice Rosa! Well done on that first run, don’t worry - you have yoof on your side so you’ll be less prone to injuries and we old fa£ts are only jealous 😘
Hi Rosa, and welcome. You can lose a lot of weight during Couch to 5k, but it works best if you diet at the same time. It doesn’t need to be anything drastic, just follow a balanced diet and cut out all the snacks, chocs and sugary drinks. If you can cut down on alcohol that'll help too.
I lost 16kg in 11 weeks this way. I always made sure I had plenty of exercise (like a long walk) on rest days.
Good luck and keep posting here for advice and encouragement.
Hey Rosa!! Well done for completing your first run! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 Happy to say we’ve all been there and I know that feeling only too well. But....you are going to be feeling so pleased and proud every time you go out there, there’s a new you coming back! The people on the forum are the absolute best and you’ll have our understanding and encouragement every step of the way! Enjoy the journey. ❤️
This plan..linked with a healthy eating regime.. not a diet... is a winner.. You may or may not lose weight,,but you will feel leaner and keener... ( not meaner though ) x
Hey! I started yesterday too! Best of luck with it! I’m super unfit, really bad with my asthma so I’m bricking even week 2, and was cursing Sarah Millican’s name half way through the first run!
