One more 25 minute run to do and week 7 is over. I'm tempted to do a fourth run tomorrow to finish the week and begin Wk 8 anew on Monday. My back has started to play up so probably not a good idea. Is anyone else here had back surgery?

I've not had back surgery but please have your rest day you don't want an injury 😊

Hi there, I realise you posted a while ago, but saw your message. I have had double back surgery and am now running, first time in my life and so far, the back is holding up ok. I have just started week 7. I can be a little stiff first thing, but that could be happening without the running. I just make sure good stretching, warm showers and baths.

Now I am going further I am mostly enforcing the rest days to be honest, though earlier on I did do consecutive days from time to time.

How is it troubling you?

Hey. I like you take care of my back by warming up stretching beforehand and afterwards. Yes I am always still stiff when I begin, but it does get better. I am in constant pain, so it’s just a case of judging how much I can bear to be honest. Yes defo sitting on my trainers to enforce rest days. But I do other fitness - fitstep, yoga, Pilates, swimming and Barre, all great for strengthening the core. (Mines atrocious).

My running had not had much effect on the amount of pain until I began week 8 and 9. Running/jogging for that longer amount in one go x 2 a week - (I deliberately do not do 3 due to my other fitness) made makes my back really hurt. Despite my concerted efforts of more stretching and taking care.

I’m hoping that I can over come this, or if worse comes to worst I’ll just try running for 20 mins and see how that goes.

I do hope you sail through yours, well done you for getting out there. Keep in touch. 😉
