Just completed this and I was feeling a little smug. I never thought I would be able to run for 8 minutes. In my pride I thought "I wonder what the next run will be?" 20 minutes? Twenty minutes!!! Not feeling smug any longer!

When you do r3 you can go back to being smug again it's not as bad as you think , everyone looks at this run and freaks a bit you'll be fine

You can do 20! Today you did 8, then a brisk walk (also heart rate raising stuff) then another 8... as far as your legs and body are concerned today was longer than 20 minutes... so the only thing seeing the next as longer is your brain... trust the plan, believe in yourself, keep the pace down and you’ll be just fine. Good job today, enjoy that 20

Hi! I'm going to call you NEVER2old4this, because it's true! :-) What UnfitNoMore (above) said is absolutely right - I had the same advice when I was in a blind panic about that first 20 minute run and it made all the difference. You have already done it (albeit part walking) so when you find a stray thought entering your head that makes you doubt yourself, remind yourself you have done it before and you can and WILL do it again. It's amazing what a positive mental attitude can do for you - I am sure my brain is far stronger than my legs or my lungs!

When you crack that first 20 minutes, it will feel like a whole new running life has opened up for you - it really was my breakthrough run of the programme and I've never looked back!

Good luck and most of all, enjoy! :-)

You’ll feel super smug when you’ve done it though, W5R3 is the best feeling ever ... and you WILL do it because you’ve already put in the sessions necessary to do it. 👍🏻
