Hello everyone!
I haven’t posted in about a month! I’ve still been running my 30 minute post grad runs but just not as often as I would like! I’ve been managing about 2 runs a week at least anyway. Had a few things come up in the way of running but I’m getting back on track and being disciplined with myself!
My lovely brother and sister in law bought me the Strava Summit app for Christmas so I’ve been using that recently and that’s been great.
Over Christmas I ran a few times with my Mum, who has just graduated C25K and is doing amazing! (Well done mum 😘) I’ve loved running with my mum, even though we have different paces it’s so nice knowing doing the same thing just behind me etc.
I finally did my first Park Run today!! Yesterday I decided I was going to give it a go. Despite feeling really nervous and excited and like I just wanted to stay in bed and forget about it, I got up and did it! My boyfriend Alex said he would come watch me for support but by the time I was leaving the house he was only just starting to get up so I thought no chance he’ll come and watch...
Just as I was finishing my first lap, there he was! Stood in the cold and wind cheering me on 😁 I felt so happy he was there and got ridiculously excited like a little girl haha. But still, I loved having him there for the support and encouragement and a lovely sweaty hug when I finished.
The park run was great, the people were so friendly, helpful and welcoming. I ran my quickest 5K ever and achieved several PBs! The atmosphere is amazing and running with loads of other people really is so encouraging.
For those of you hesitating about doing a Park Run or even any running event... just do it! Get your loved ones or family to come along to support you and give it a go. Trust me it’s worth it. Even if you don’t get a personal best or even manage to run the full route, it’s an achievement in its self just giving it a go.
Trust the process and believe in yourself! Keep running!
