A few of us cobbled together a virtual running club and did our first Park Runs today.
I loved it, so supportive and cheering you on all the way. Just over 330 people did it (I think) and itβs well established with lots and lots of regulars.
My Strava time was 35.01 with a great pace (sub 7min/km!!!!!!) after my recent endeavours...... My official PR time was 36.32 (with a pee break) position 273
I blame Luke - he made me go faster! (And he even finished a couple of minutes in front of me.
Verdict - weβll be back in a few weeks and it will become a regular feature of my running week and journey to 10K.

lol - itβs a difficult balance between a having enough water on board and needing βa breakβ..... I didnβt drink that much when I got up.... honest! X
Yay! Well done, Mitch! Glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully the first of many. (Iβve no idea how to take a pee break at ours, but guess thatβs easier for the guys! π) ππβ€οΈπββοΈ
this is a great idea! I also did 1st park run today. haven't been on here much recently so missed your virtual club. If it's ok could you tag me in if you do another one so I can join in?
Fantastic! These organised events are brilliant. Task sense of community. I've not done a Parkrun yet, just a few charity events, but it's on the hit list.
They don't have portaloos on our run and I don't think the members of the public would take too kindly to runners peeing off the top of the cliffs.
Although they measure your finish times quite accurately, start times are a bit hit and miss I think. If you start near the back, you can easily be down 20-30 seconds to start with.
But 36:32 is a great time. Besides, you don't want to put in your best time on your first run, it's much better to knock a few seconds off each subsequent run, then you keep getting to see "New PB" on the official time sheet
Iβm not sure tbh. I started my Strava within 5 seconds of everyone starting to run. I made sure I was at the back so I was out of the way.... so not sure how Iβm over a minute different.
