I am a 63 years young male looking to attempt to start running yet again. Have managed to get about 3 weeks into the C25K but then fade off for various reasons, mainly laziness and lack of drive.
Looking forward to trying again mainly for better health and fitness, and to shake some excess weight.
I was like that last year as well, DorsetDuo, I did attempt a few runs in November and December but as it was cold and wet I decided to put it off until spring. I started seriously with C25K in April, ran week 1 run 1 on April 18 and graduated on June 18. Perhaps you might just consider postponing any runs until the spring as well, then get into it seriously.
I’d recommend you start right away. Just completed the programme and going to continue with the running. Saying that I run in the park as I don’t like the gym, and find general fitness has improved. The key to success is run slowly.
I must admit it doesn't bother me running in the cold, wet or dark - makes you feel like a superhero! I live in a quiet Dorset village but in a valley, so it's hills all the way!
