Thank you to this forum. It helped a great deal. Thank you to the people who replied to my posts especially.
Don't know what to say. Done it. Amazed. Puffing. I was breathing hard at the end, but could still have a conversation and call the dog to heal. Enjoying the achievement every time, but can't say I enjoy the running.
I started early October, Mostly ran every 2nd day but occasionally had to do 2 or 3 day's rest if work got in the way. This was bit irritating, but I suspect that it was beneficial. I have bad knees; torn meniscus in one and, last Friday, according to the orthopaedic consultant, none in the other - its been pushed out. I should have asked him where it had gone! I also have OA in both knees, apparently the severity is 4/10. I told him it doesn't hurt when I run and he had no problem that I had been 'jogging' and said to continue if I enjoy it as we only have one life, and to live it.
Distance achieved in the 30 minutes has been roughly the same for all three runs in W9; just over 2 miles which in new money for the young ones is 3.2k, I think. Not bad for a short, almost 62 year old female, still in obese category. I have 2lbs more to lose to be merely overweight and then 2 stones to be within BMI.
I doubt very much that I will ever do 5k in 30 minutes, but that does not worry me. But then again, I might, if pigs fly. I am faster than I was 9 weeks ago and my aim is to carry on with the 30 minute runs and see if I can cover more distance. I shall have to look up what's next, I recently saw a post referring to Stepping Stones, so I will find it to see what it recommends.
The dog gets very excited when she sees my trainers going on, more so than the rest days when she is walked at least a mile anyway and always has been.
Update - I plotted on Google Earth and I covered 3.64k so better than I thought. 2.26 miles. plus the 2 x 5 mins of walk.
