First time I've had to miss a run

I'm so close to completing the C25K programme, and definitely want to graduate before my first Park Run with my brother on 22 December, but training has taken a hit this weekend. I spent yesterday Christmas shopping with a friend yesterday, with all good intention of running today, but have woken up with a sore throat, streaming nose and eyes and blocked ears. How strange that I can run in the cold and rain and be fine, but after a day wrapped up nice and warm, in and out of shops, I fall ill with a cold. So today's run is out of the question and that will push my schedule back, which is very disappointing.

On a more positive note, I did W8R1 on Friday evening - my first 28-minute run - and I managed it! I even felt as if I could have gone on for another minute or so (but I didn't) so I'm feeling confident of the 30 minute runs for week 9, as long as I can get back into my proper schedule. Fingers crossed my nose stops running soon!

People get colds in the winter because of central heating mainly, so you tend not to catch them outside in the cold... door handles and push plates are often the source.

Anyhoo... good run on Friday and the next one will be waiting for you when you’re better.

Thanks - I knew there was a good reason I usually try and avoid the shops (and germy people!)

Thank you, taking myself off for an early night and contemplating not going to work tomorrow if I feel as bad as I do now. Just wish my legs could run as fast as my nose is running! :-)

Great idea - I didn't know they were doing a Christmas Day run. That should get me out of bed on Christmas morning!
