Is w5 r3 really 20 mins long???? How am I going to manage that?
Oh my goodness! : Is w5 r3 really 20 mins long... - Couch to 5K
Oh my goodness!
Just keep putting one foot in front of the other ! Seriously, don’t panic. Embrace that inner snail and go out determined to enjoy the run and see what you can do. You’ll probably smash it first time, but if you don’t it doesn’t matter: that’s why the programme has a repeat facility. Remember the First Rule of C25k: the only run you fail is the run you don’t go for ! All the best with it x
Take it slow, slow, slow. Especially at the start. Plenty of opportunities to increase speed on later runs, just aim to keep going for the 20mins however slowly you feel you need to be going. That will go a long way to boosting your confidence for the longer runs to come. The program works, you are ready, just keep the faith and come back and tell us you smashed it.
It's hard but you can do it. I dont know who you have as your trainer but at the end of my 20 minutes Michael (we're on first name terms now) said to me that the point of that run was to prove I could do it - to make a mental jump to match the physical ones. He was right!
And another MJ fan here! You’ll do it, it looks scary but you’re ready for it. Just breathe and go steady. 👍🏻
Believe in yourself and you have it in your grasp.

You can do this.
I just finished (10 mins ago) w5r3 and if I can....
The hard part is to concentrate on the breathing. I also made a Bowie playlist..starts with Heroes, goes through Under Pressure at minute 10 and winds up with Let's Dance.
Many of us thought the very same thing when we came to that run! But it's doable, trust the programme, you CAN do it. Slow and steady. After you complete that run the sense of achievement is great, I did my warm down walking smiling from ear to ear after that run. Slow and steady! Good luck!
Your last run/brisk walk/run had your heartbeat up for longer than 20 minutes... your legs and lungs have already done 20! It’s all about the mind... keep the pace down and believe in yourself... you can do it.
