I've been working at getting back to where I was just before I went on me hols at the end of May when I did a 10 mile and a 5K PB in the same week. I wasn't getting anywhere near that since. Even the RfL and local 10k had been tough going.
I did a slow 10k on Saturday which was very hard work - I left it late to go out so it was hot and when I came back I felt a bit 'not quite right' for most of the day, so on Monday I did a bit of a mish-mash run - some slow, some fast, some walk - but nothing too strenuous.
Didn't set out with any set plan today but it was a lot cooler and I started out at a decent pace so just tried to keep it going. Was shocked when I checked the Garmin and I was at 4.35K/24mins. Well, even if I took another 3 minutes plus to do the next 0.5k I was heading for my current PB and as I felt okay thought I might as well speed up a bit.
Stopped the watch at 5K - 27:56 - a whole 1 minute faster!! I ran a 5.09 final 1K!! I'm still in shock!! Sorry for the !! overload.......but I'm a bit excited... !! ;-))

Well you say that, and I certainly used to, but I've got more of a planning head on these days than I ever had. I even downloaded a plan for my upcoming 5k race. I didn't want to be doing the wrong thing - I tend to run too far - so got me a proper plan. It showed I was running too far. Oops
Get sommat easy for your old man's dinner! A takeaway, and he's buying. LOL
