Whoops - I tripped and fell

For the first time in 5 years I fell whilst running. For no reason whatsoever I decided to run down a different pavement. I caught my trailing foot on the kerb and hit the ground in a blink of an eye. I don’t even remember falling.

1 week on my bruised knee is almost cleared up. The cracked rib will take a few more weeks 😒.

Did I do this near home? Of course not. 4Km away at 6:30 in the morning. Big thanks to my wife for coming to collect me.

Celebrated my fall by buying some new running shoes on Black Friday. Down but not out!

Oh ouch, thats awful, but scarily it's so easily done.

I guess the fact that you've bought new shoes means it'll take more than a cracked rib and bruised knee to put you off running - brave soul!!

Wishing you a speedy recovery 😊

Thanks

New shoes have been on the cards for a while, and as I set out that morning I thought to myself, these have no spring in them any more. New shoes have arrived, insoles inserted and ready to go. Another 10 days for me I think.

Ouch.. sympathy ! Follow the NHS guidelines for cracked ribs..it works... ! (Popped mine twice now) :)

You will be back there soon!

Thanks

NHS advice is good. I certainly find sitting upright or standing is most comfortable. Lying down, so sleeping, less so. Past two nights have been better.

Healing well, so hope to be running in about 10 days or so. Short runs though - itching to try those new shoes out.

Down but not out 💪👍😃🏃‍♂️ Well done that man 🙂

I am a bit of a clumsy oaf so falling is a bit of a feature ☺️🤕.

I hope you’ll soon be tickety-boo. Good news on the shoes 😃

Clumsy is me - have been called Coco (as in clown) on occasions :(

Ouch.., it’s a good job you’re made of the strong stuff!

Thanks - it is a little uncomfortable, but not too bad. More annoyed at my own stupidity for trying a new path in the dark!

It could be worse... my stupidity has me laid up with a knackered ankle for a few weeks, so relatively speaking you’re very smart 😂

Ouch. That's a blow. Don't envy you the rib pain. I've broken ribs twice. Unbelievable agony. Getting up and down excruciating. Hope new shoes are comfortable. Good luck.

Wow, don't envy you! I've only.managed to fall once so far, in front of a bunch of walkers, one with a push chair! Felt a right plonker as my glasses went flying off my face!
