everyone and welcome to, yet another, new running week.

We are all so busy... life can be hectic .... and even more so for us runners!

Fear not, here is a place to take five, and enjoy a chat about our running adventures, trials, tribulations, successes, achievements etc.

Sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up, but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week.

If you're a lurker it is a great place to say a little hi, without the pressure of a full post.

So pull up a chair, slip off the running shoes, and settle down for a little natter:)

Wishing you all a happy , healthy ,running week

Just come back from W8, run 2 and enjoyed it. That’s two runs in a row I’ve liked now 😜

Morning RFC. Speed intervals day for me... just 6x400m with 2 minutes recovery... so later I’ll be in need of pizza I think. Gonna make some dough soon and make a batch of super thin wholemeal bases for the freezer.

Sorry UNM, your idea of a speed sprint exceeds mine by 100s of metres! ;) Hope it went well and your pizza bases worked too

Hehe... I didn’t do it, had snow showing for Wednesday so thought I’d best concentrate on the endurance work just in case... of course now it’s not showing snow at all on my forecast 😂

Pizza was good, cider too 🍻

Sounds good! Always good to be prepared! Pizza bases in the freezer and a drink that will keep for ages ;)

My schedule is all over the shop with this programme and it's only Week 3. I've had to skip a few runs or else I felt like I'd be stuck forever. It feels like I have to start a new week on a Monday regardless of how I've done in the previous week, which I'm sure is going to end up getting me in trouble later on.

So far, I've done W1R1, W1R2, W2R1, W2R2 and this morning W3R1. I seem to lose all motivation by Friday. 🤔

I don't think you need to rigidly stick to week1, 2, etc.

I'm just doing it at my own pace.

I did four runs of Week 1 and the same in Week 2. Have just started week 3 even though I'm almost at the end of it. I'll just do it into next week and only move on to Week 4 when I feel ready.

in reply toPollyanna24

Thanks for the reply. I don't think my mind is with it at the moment. I'm half way to thinking I should just stop and try again in the new year as one of those resolutions we all make.

Please don't give up. Maybe just stick to the order of runs, even if it takes longer than 9 weeks. Your body will get into it and - amazingly - you'll start to enjoy it.

About to do week 5 run 3. We start the week running as a group, so the leader does the harder run at the start of the week so we have the moral support. So our scheduled run for tonight is 10/3/10 which I found harder than the 20 minute run we did last Thursday. The plan for this Thursday is to run for 25 mins x

Trying hard to stay motivated post C25K - still running every other day where possible, but had a really long walk planned yesterday so did that instead of a run and had an extra day off, but was out there first thing this morning! Still enjoying myself, and liking the freedom to mix things about a bit, finding that running faster is easier, but struggle with my breathing at anything faster than my usual shuffle! But also find usual shuffle quite hard going on my legs, it's a dilemma! :o)

This is my transition week, it's too dark now to have our youngest hanging around a track whilst I run so I am going to have to cut down my running to 2x a week. One short or maybe if I am lucky 5k whilst she is in an after school activity (I will go to collect her all sweaty but hopefully no one will mind) and the other a long run on Sunday, slowly increasing to 10k. Not sure if that last bit will work with only one other run a week. Currently done 7.2 k last weekend, and 7.1 the weekend before. Also have a plan (not likely to succeed but you have to try) of doing a mile with the girls tomorrow after school before it gets too dark, led pace wise by them. But tomorrow's another day so we will see!

How old are your girls? I have two aged 8 and 10 and although not ideal, I run around the block as many times as I need to in the 30 mins (I am only on W3). I trust my girls enough to do this, but I appreciate that yours may be younger. When I get to run when they are at school, I go further afield!

I actually wrote snap there and then remembered the eldest one is 11... whoops! She stays home. The younger one comes to the track and hangs around the exercise equipment or sits on a bench, but sometimes there's a few high school kids there which makes her nervous as does the dark. I can't really leave her at home as she is a bit too young and number 1 and 3 don't get along.....also there's no short blocks I could run around and check in on them regularly. But I would do it your way if I could!

Don't you love it when they are at school? I started working at a school a year ago and whilst I love my job, I do miss the days of fitting things like fitness in and generally being organised!

We all did a 2.7k run the other night though, youngest constantly low level grumbling! If I can get them out again next week for a 2k I will be a happy bunny.

Good luck with the rest of c25k! You may even get your girls joining in :)

Just started week 9. After hearing that our son had done C25K and is now running 10k, 15k, 10k each week, I decided it was now or never. With 61 happy and inactive years behind me, I set myself a 5k target by the time I turn 62 in January.

The whole programme has been amazing. It never asks you to do what it is not possible to do. It has given me a wonderful sense of achievement and success.

Nevertheless, at the end of week 8, I decided I wanted to try to run a whole 5km (as well as warm up and cool down). I clocked a 35m10s and did my second 5k today. 10 weeks before my birthday, I feel I have had the present already.

The big question now is whether to carry on doing 5km 3 times a week and just try to improve beyond 35 minutes.

Did my first ever parkrun last Saturday in a time of 25mins 4 secs when I was meant to be doing wk5r1. Absolutely loved it and over the moon with that performance. I still intend carrying on with the plan so

I post quite a bit here now, as it keeps me focused, and all the lovely positive comments from other people keep me motivated.

I got back from W5R3 3 hours ago and am still grinning from ear to ear. The progress I've made since W1R1 is nothing short of miraculous and to have run (well, it's more of a light jog) for 20 minutes non-stop has made me feel so proud of myself and just a tiny bit guilty, because I'd told my running buddy (next-door neighbour) who couldn't come out tonight that I'd just repeat W5R2 so that I wouldn't get ahead of her. But today I really wanted to go for it so I did!
