Hi all I have just completed my first run. I can honestly say I don’t exercise ever this was a challenge for me and having done I can’t see how I’m going to do the next how ever many weeks I have heart burn I can never seem to master my breathing which leads my throat to burn and my head going light headed. But on the positive side I have done day one. I am going to keep trying 🤣☺️

The first run is tough, but you did it! Well done x keep going, you will surprise yourself in how quickly you progress. I did my first 3 minutes run this morning and tbh I found the 3 minute runs easier than the 90 second ones, which surprised me x

Argh thanks Amanda I am excited to progress. It’s something iv been meaning to do everyday for the last 5 years 😂 kids and jobs and every other excuse seems to get in the way. Then stumbled across this website and app and thought I will give it a try. Good luck to you too hopefully I will eventually run for more than a min without feeling like I need to call an ambulance 🚑. 🤣🤣

My first run, that first 60 seconds, I thought I would die, so hard. At the end of w1R3 I was grinning like a Cheshire Cat 🐱

Don’t think about week 9 - just focus on week 1. It IS hard - so well done for getting out there and doing it! 👍

Thank you Auden I appreciate the advice.

I started last week and the first run made me think I was going to die, the best advice I got here was start slow, slow down and then slow down some more which made the second run slightly more bearable, the third was hard and I’ve just started week two and never thought I could go for 90 seconds, I did...just...

I plan to trust in it and at least we are getting out there and doing more than we would do otherwise!

Stick with it and good luck x

Well done. One of the big problems I had before I started the programme was my breathing. At the end of the early runs I thought I would simply drop down dead and that would be a big plus over how I felt. I have just started my final week and was thinking last night about the progress I have made. And I suddenly remembered that I had not had any breathing problems for quite some time - the programme is so good I hadn’t even noticed Good luck you can do it

Oh good I feel better reading this as it was really a struggle for me today. Thanks for you comment.

The first run for many Krick, is the hardest. So well run you for getting out there & completing it!! As for the breathing malarkey, just go with what feels natural, personally I’m a converted mouth breather. Slow & steady is the way to go as it reduces the risk of injury & helps build stronger legs. So what ever pace you choose, will be the right one for you. If you struggle, just slow it down. Wishing you well on your journey👍🏻

Great job.

Yes, 30 minutes is currently impossible, yes, it seems forever away, and no, it isn’t... it’s a few weeks. You’ll be ready! The plan is great and designed to push you while at the same time having every run remain achievable. Your body will be ready for each run. All you got to do is hydrate well, eat reasonably, watch what you eat before the run, lace the shoes and be confident that you can get from the start line and complete the session... oh and run too! It’s mainly a mental challenge! Run slowly and it’s better and easier.

Thank you for your advise this is really helpful.

No worries. Most people see running as moving as fast as you can... that’s a tiny bit of running, that’s race day running... the stuff you don’t see the pros do is the 80-85% of their running at a (relatively) slow pace... that’s where endurance is built and without endurance, there can be no speed. So, best thing you can do is find your slower gears and embrace them.

Keep going! Breathing sorts itself out once you get through 5-8 minute runs 👌🏽 it works!

Can’t wait to see the results. I’m going to take it a day at a time and just concentrate on getting through each one. Very exciting. 😆😆

Great advice here: keep going, but slowly, and trust in the plan. I’m very overweight and into week 5 now, and surprising myself every week! Make sure you stretch well after your runs and on rest days 👍

Well done on completing the hardest run of all 👏

Just follow the plan, take each run as it is, and go slow and steady 🐌, and I mean slow... It's not a race, its about building up your fitness levels and stamina.

Believe in yourself and you will do this 👍

You will get so much support and advice on here from your "Running Family". 😁

Way to go Krick001. I feel your pain. I am in week 4 now. You can do it. Don't go fast - if necessary jog as slow as you walk. Be careful not to get injured. I, too, have been grinning like a Cheshire Cat since week 3. I am from Cheshire, so that helps :-)

I felt the same as you on my first run. You’ll be surprised how quickly your lungs will get you to running. Even after week 1, I noticed I could breathe better. Just keep going you can do it! Just one run at a time. 🙂
