Good park run this morning to graduate. Slowed down at the end to make sure I ran for 30 minutes and finished in 30:48. Who am I kidding I kept the same pace throughout.

In some ways the climbing analogy is appropriate. When I finished week 1 in a gasping heap you could liken it to having walked up to Everest base camp and when lying in a tent feeling like death the clouds part and you can see the summit. It seems impossible to think that in a few weeks you will reach it. Also like climbing you need a proven route (the C25K programme) and you can't do it on your own. You need support so for all of you on here who have provided me with the inspiration and encouragement please consider yourselves to be my respected, honorary Sherpas.

Happy running everybody.

You’ll need to hang around for a while then - it took me nine weeks to achieve week 1 ! But I’ll get there in the end 😄

Congratulations on completing C25K and graduating with a great time of 30.48 at this mornings parkrun, perhaps on your next 5k run you will run it sub 30, you only need 47 seconds quicker to run a sub 30 minute 5k 🏃 😊.

Not sure if I can break 30 mins for some time. I need more mileage in the legs. Just going to consolidate for a few weeks and then see if I feel like going for 10k. Whatever I do I'm going to enjoy it. Somewhere in week 8 I started to enjoy the runs and stopped seeing them as hurdles to overcome to reach a target of graduation. The difference has been amazing. Although I had been a good to very good runner at school I never really enjoyed running for that very reason, it was just something I had to do for other sports training. If only I knew then what I know now.

Congratulations on graduating and also completing parkrun... I wonder if anyone has had to run on to complete a C25K run 😂. Enjoy your celebration and future running

Lol, I didn't really have to run on. That time is about the best I can do until I've got lots more mileage in the legs.

I know... you said you’d slowed down and then I was thinking that you could also run on... kid at juniors did 6 1k laps the other week 😂

Awesome! I don't see many posts where a parkrun graduation is done at the 30 minute pace.

I think you're right to go back to shorter runs if that's what you enjoyed most.

I graduated just over a week ago I'm shattered after running more often and doing intervals with sprints and fast runs.

Happy running whatever you choose to do! 😸
