I decided that as I was coming into Week 5 and approaching the dreaded 20 minute run (where did that come from?!) I’d need some actual trainers.
Went to Up & Running and got my gait analysis done - turns out the type of shoe I thought is like was the complete wrong fit for me! I need something to really support me as my ankles can collapse in.
I got these snazzy ones and although my bank account is still recovering I think these will be a great investment.
Quite nice to think that I’m becoming a “runner”!
W5R2 tomorrow - can I really go 8 minutes TWICE? I feel like it’s really stepped up this week! And I’m dreading W5R3!

Love the trainers 😍 and don’t dread run 3, look forward to that feeling of accomplishment when you finish it! I completed it last week and it was honestly the best run so far for me! Just keep remembering your body can do it and you’ll get through, good luck ☺️
I read the headline and thought “that could get expensive” but I’d love to buy a pair every Monday 😂
Nice shoe porn.
Now. In the right shoes running will be easier... so yeah you can do 8 twice no problem. That 20... it’s only scary looking, it’s not a hard run, slow and steady is the way to get through it, and when you do it’s the most amazing feeling. Enjoy the runs, fear none of them, you can compete them all.
Good on you upgrading your shoe choice - in my opinion (after 30 years of running in 5Ks to marathons), the most important thing you can do for your running is to have good shoes. Don't be surprised if you start accumulating shoes (all runners do) - right now I have five pairs active - 1 for trail runs, 2 for road runs, and 2 for walks.
