Week 5 run 2. May need new trainers...

I’ve just completed week 5 run 2 in the blazing sunshine and heat (not complaining, I love the sun!). It was hard going but I made it. However, I’m a little worried about run 3 - 20 mins non stop! But I’ve done c25k twice before so I know I can do it...

The other thing I’m wondering about is my trainers. I’m starting to get pins and needles in my feet with the longer runs and I think they may be a little small for me. Any advice?

I am absolutely no expert however I read that if you go beyond week 4 you should be fitted for proper running shoes.... If you are running in ordinary trainers that may be the problem. I was almost an hour in a running shop whilst they tried to find the right pair for me and it has totally transformed my running (well, my snails pace jogging, to be more accurate!) 😀

Well done!

I'm not sure either but I bought new running trainers yesterday to start week 5 with.

Seems a lot of us are buying them towards w5

I think you've answered your own question😀. Running shoes should be at least half a size larger than your normal shoes and can be up to two full sizes larger depending on make. However, depending on where the pins a needles are i.e. Top of your foot could be laces too tight., bottom of foot could be support/cushioning had it (shoes can still look ok but the cushioning wears out/can't 'Spring' back after a while). General rule of thumb is 300-500 miles for a pair of shoes.

Look for the post below in pinned post. As you can see there are a couple of sections on shoes in it.

Laces aren't too tight are they? or you may need new shoes, a gait analysis and fitting is recommended at a reputable running store.

Go on! treat your feet and yourself, your worth it!😊

I’ve just started using my new shoes, it’s much better. I got ASICS, they really made sure that my feet would have plenty of room whilst also providing support. I was embarrassed, I’ve never had so many boxes of shoes brought out for me to try on!
