Restarting after a 3 week break

Hi! I just got to week 7 and then my lower back seized up - due to moving slate in the garden. It’s better, just a bit achey after 3 weeks. I’d like to get back out there but I’m nervous about making it worse - and where should I start from? Anyone have any experience of this and advice on how to proceed? Many thanks

Ok... week one of not running you are stronger than you started the break, week 2 you are back at the same level, so an extra week would have you slightly behind where you were. I’d still try the next run though... but there’s some runs that I wouldn’t like to be my first back. Where were you up to?

Hi.. been doing C25K on a site myrunningtips.com and completed week 6

Day 1 - Run 9 min, Walk 3 min, x3

Day 2 - Run 8 min, Walk 2 min, x3

Day 3 - Run 10 min, Walk 3 min, x3

Due to start 15 minute runs but I think that would be too much for a first run as you suggest. Will start back a week - just got to test it out and see! Thanks.

Well, they’re different... nice symmetry!

I was thinking I’d rather come back on a run than intervals... that’s not happening! Ok, I’d go out and run that first 15 nice and slow and then assess how I was feeling, maybe it’s doable. On the one you version it would be 25 minutes running and I’d just go slow and see how far I could get.

Sorry to hear of your problems, Run63. Why not have a fun go at a run you expect to be easy and see how it goes ?

Good on you to be getting back out there. Lots of great advice already. It would be good to have a fun run and tick off a programme run too, so you know exactly where you are at! Best wishes for a great run and the few that are ahead to complete!! Not long at all Run63! Run happy! 😁❤️
