Struggling at Week 6!

Hi! Just wondering if anyone else was struggling at this point? I’ve completed week 6 today, but this week and the 25 min today was really tough. It’s weird because the 20 min at the end of week 5 was surprisingly ok! I am still feeling so proud of myself, but am worried I’ll give up, but I’m soooo close! X

I would start wk7 next when you feel ready to run and just see how 25 mins feels second time around. If you are really struggling maybe repeat week 6. In addition make sure you're well hydrated, well fuelled and well rested beforehand, and perhaps slow it down for at least the first 5 mins of the run. You will get there but may need to be a bit patient getting over the 25 minute hump.

Well done completing week six!! If you completed then I’d say go straight to week 7. Some runs are just hard. But you got through it and we’re victorious. 😀

Yep stay positive it’s the only way to get through!! Try and thinking of three positives for every run...even the ones that suck 😀

Yup! Week six had some tough intervals in it. You completed though... great job. I’d say keep going, weeks 7, 8 and 9 really give you strength and 7 is consolidation on where you are now.

I have just posted a similar comment- week 6 run 2 was really hard, Did 6 run 3 yesterday and struggled, down to a very slow jog. Tempted to go back and repeat but have decided to go for week 7 tomorrow and be positive. Seems this is a barrier to overcome- Good luck

Hi! Just did R1 W7, it was tough, but I did it (even with a tooth abscess!) hope you managed it too?

Thank you, yes. In fact I ended up doing week 8 run 1 by mistake! I found a local group doing C25K.I had been told they were starting week 7 but in fact it was week 8. Surprised myself by doing 28 mins comfortably though I am really tired today so having a 2 day break then back to week 7. Ran for the first time with others and it seemed much easier. Back to solo running Thursday so fingers crossed it is ok

Hi Woods25k

Thank you for sharing your experience of week6. I am sure you can do it from the sounds of where you have come from. Unfortunately I am still on W5R2 hence no experience of 20 mins runs yet. I have to say your post has enlighten me and encouraged me to brace it for the coming adversities. Well done for sticking up with it. The final line is looming.

Well done so far! I had zero determination before I started this, but seem to get the drive from somewhere! Keep going!

Hi ya, I'm with you. Completed week 5, no problem. Just done day one of week 6 and was all over the place, such that I think I shall do this run again before going into the longer runs....stopped trying to understand it and going to keep going one way or another - something has to be better than nothing😆🙃

Weird isn’t it, how this seems to be the really tough bit?! I was expecting it earlier on? I completed R1W7 tonight, I was slow as always, but it’s done! Keep going!

Same here! Just finished wk7 run2 but found week 6 steps it right up and it plays heavy on your mind the amount you now have to run for. Until now I religiously alternated run day/rest day but as the runs are so much longer now I give myself 2 rest days but I’ve been so close to throwing in the towel as easier option, I’m now telling myself only 4 more runs for the trophy. I guess what I’m trying to say is do what you can to make it happen just don’t listen to your inner voice telling you that you can’t or its too much you’ve trained for this you can and will do it 💪
