W6r1 and a dog

Wow that was hard, not helped that in each off the 3 run periods i had the same stupid little dog trying to trip me and jumping at me, i was nice the first time but by the third time I'd had enough and told the owner that if she couldn't control her dog she should keep it on a lead, well you would think i had threatened to kill her dog the way she reacted. Almost enough to put me off running in that park again but then I'll be struck on the streets which is no where near as nice 😔

That’s appalling about the dog CS. I’m a dog owner and I run with mine as well as take her to parkrun, and I always make sure she’s under control. She’s very good, to be fair, but I’m still mindful of other walkers/runners. I once had a loose dog ambushing mine while she was on the lead running at my side. Almost tripped me up several times and the owner couldn’t have given a monkey’s. My dog was ignoring it too. I think she wanted it to b***er off as much as I did. Unfortunately numpties like the ones you and I met give the rest of us dog owners a bad name. 🙁

Don’t be put off running in your park. It’s not her park and you have every right to run in it. Tell her you’ll report her if necessary. Silly woman. Sorry, people like that make my really cross. 😡

Hope you can continue to enjoy your runs a bit more peacefully from now on. 😀

Stupid dog and even more of a stupid owner, as a cyclist and now a runner, on the odd occasion I have come across a dog which is barking or jumping at me, running is definitely the most annoying of the two, on the bike I can put out my leg on a sort of kicking motion so the dog usually gets the message to stop and of course being on the bike I can accelerate my peddling and get quickly away from the stupid dog, I have never come across a dog who tries to run as fast as I cycle.

When running it is much more difficult to get away from a dog🐕, I have in the short time I have been running not come across a really annoying dog, the occasional dog has sniffed around my ankles, I have slowed down a little and the owner has called off the dog and I have carried on running.

The poorly controlled dog .................some owners should be barred from ownership, assuming that everyone likes to be jumped up at.........today my wife was jumped at by a playful dog, which covered her with mud. It was being walked by a woman with five dogs, presumably a "professional" walker, who didn't even apologise........half an hour later as we were sitting down a puppy came up and slobbered all over her.......an apology this time but totally casual lack of control in both cases.

I won't go on, or I will get boring.......

Yes your right dogs should be on a lead as when you are running dogs get excited and it's not their fault , silly dog owner thinks they know best . Don't let it put you off . Oh and not all dog owners are irresponsible 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

I had a dog owner tell me that her dog was friendly when I had to swerve round it. I swerved round it because

1) I didn't want to swop

2) if I fall over it I don't bounce anymore and am terrified of breaking more bones - 2 last year and once heal they keep hurting (3 if you count wrist and hand separately but same accident)

So far I've managed to be polite but I agree, if they are not under control they should be on a lead. Unfortunately the majority are not well trained. I like the dogs. I'm less keen on their humans though!

Legally, dogs must be under close control when out in public. If they are not they can be reported to the local authority or police. Both of these have the authority to enforce legislation or [more likely] have a quiet word.

You shouldn't have to do this, but irresponsible dog owners are a pain - I must add that my dog is really good and comes when called - honestly!!
