Well we left the security of the secret park today - opting for the people park instead. Psyched myself up to seeing fellow runners doing an early morning run. I don't know why but I expected to see lots of people out running at 6am. No one, not a soul - well there was a girl sitting on a bench smoking ....mmmm nicotine. But other than that the park was deserted, our blue flashing armbands illuminating our own personal disco.
I felt uncomfortable today though, I'm not sure if it was the new route with new inclines or if it was just the 18 minute blurgh at the beginning. I seem to rally towards the end every time - it's like my body doesn't want to be doing it until it's nearly over and then it's all 'don't know what the problem was' after I get through the most of it.
What did I like about todays run? Good question...I ran 5 times around a park that I did not think I would ever be able to. I've often watched people run around the park and just thought 'How?!?'. But I was one of those people today! I started a new audiobook which isn't too bad. Michael did not annoy me today, and I will begrudgingly admit that I liked hearing his voice letting me know 5 mins were up then half way and when he said I can speed up for the last minute. Those sprints are the best. I may have *accidently* sprinted a little further - Well I just wanted to get to the park gate, which wasn't much further away.
Not a bad run over all

As for the 18min blurgh, search for Toxic 10 if the link below doesn’t work. My body sometimes forgoes the pleasure or, more often, decides 20mins has to be got through first.
Ahh just give it a go...she says...it’s taken me 7 weeks to work up to a public display! Eep yeah 8 more runs! Who’d have thunk it! I know I didn’t. 30 mins doesn’t even seem scary now! I think documenting the journey helps me. I tried to get duck on board but he’s decided he’s more of a vicarious participant. But the advice and encouragement on here really keeps me going😀🤩
Definitely agree with all that. I find documenting it helps too, helps keep the momentum going and 9 weeks can seem pretty long at times. Also something I like to do when I'm cooling down after a nice shower, with a cuppa. Also tried to get my gf on runs with me on a Monday but no luck so far. She is a runner already (runs with a group called the snails) but I think she is doubting she could keep it going for the 25 mins now, her group do longer distances (5-10km) but they do it with walking intervals. Massive congrats on the first public display! Fresh air feel good?
Oooh I like the idea of the snails. I think I would struggle with interval running again though. You know how spectacularly Michael and I fell out last week. 😀🤣😀 Just tell her she’ll be grand and drag her along any way. We seem to share the same morning ritual! Fresh air always feels good. I’ve run on a treadmill precisely once, for my gait analysis. That was enough. Never again. Wasn’t too public today after all, perhaps at the weekend, we run much later then....more likely it will be back to the secret park.
I wore full leggings and a hoodie, with the hood up until I got too hot. Don’t think it’s the cold getting to me as I was the same on the last run when it was warmer out and later in the morning. It’s probably more likely that it’s toxic 18 suggested by Annie above. I did a bit of research on that. I’m not out of puff it’s just my legs and back complaining fiercely then I’m grand.
Ok, if it’s mainly your legs check your hydration. Your pee needs to be a light colour all the time; if it isn’t drink more especially water. Your muscles/body need to be hydrated to be able to perform.
Definitely well hydrated - We are following the Keto diet so both drink a lot of water 3-4 litres a day plus *ahem* several cups of coffee - pee is usually clear/very light. Also I've take to drinking electrolytes the night before and after a run. Think that would be an unlikely cause.
Also agree with Annie. It seems a bit odd to openly talk pee but I do check before I flush and a few times when it has been hot I've noticed the colour and thought hmmmm more water!
I know!!! it's madness really. Weird how your whole outlook changes with this running lark. I secretly love it. I have run envy when I see other people running and I'm not. I'm yet to see a fellow runner and get the 'runner's nod'. I think I might want that now...nope I'd still rather not see anyone while I'm out, I am not that much reformed.
