First time did not finish! Week 7 Run 3

After a great run on Friday back up north where I grew up, today has not gone to plan.

Today is the first time my body had said no and I had to stop week7 Run 3. I was about half way through and all of a sudden my ankle said enough and a shooting pains up my left leg, next thing bum hit the grass and that was it. The previous lap I was struggling but thought I could push past it.

It is a warm day today, usually do runs early evening and think mixture of heat and having a busy, emotional two days as it was my nans funeral on Friday have taken its toll.

Next thing is do I start the week again or just do one final 25min Run and then move onto week 8??

Happy running everyone. X

To answer your question directly, you only need to repeat the run you didn’t finish - not the whole week. More importantly, be gentle with yourself. Sounds like the last few days have taken a lot out of you physically mentally and emotionally, so allow yourself some rest. The run will still be there in a couple of days and you won’t lose fitness in that short time. Take a couple of days off then pick up from where you were.

Thank you! Having someone else say to take it easy was what I needed, nothing like a total stranger telling you to do something as I am really bad at listening to my husband who said exactly the same thing!

Tonight’s run was great!

Great effort there after a stressful time. Hope the ankle is ok... could be worth resting it more than a day. As Arthur said, you only need to repeat that run. Hope you’re good to go and more relaxed next time... you’ll get it.

Just repeat the run..when you are sure the ankle pain has gone. Relax and take it slowly and steadily...😊

Does it still hurt? Try 15 mins ice pack in a tea-towel a few times, rest and if still hurts when walking after say a week get an xray.
