Reached 28 minutes this week. First run felt good, tonight’s run was hard - breathing was the issue. I think it was a faster pace. (Only by about 30secs/mile). I could not get a full breath in without a sharp pain under my ribs. Is there anyway to reduce this? Is this normal? Is just going slower the answer??
Thanks 😊

Well done on completing that 28 minute run, I am a little concerned regarding that sharp pain under your ribs, hopefully the pain should go before your next run, perhaps give more than one day off running before continuing with the second 28 minute run of week 8.
Yes. Always go slow! Speed comes with time. It's a bit like driving a car: the faster you go, the more fuel you use. So go slow and run for a greater distance!
Then sloooooow doooooown.... I keep a nice pace between 7-8 minutes per km, it works well for me. Sometimes, depending on how I feel it can be closer to 8.5 per km. Remember that it's not a race, but a gentle jog.
The diaphragm, being a muscle just like any other, needs to condition and get used to the running... they tend to strike as you push the limit of your fitness, just like leg cramps, so they will reduce in frequency as your endurance grows.
Funnily enough I was the same week 8 run 1 I was fine, found run 2 very difficult but run 3 tonight I found great ...don’t go into run 3 thinking about the negatives of run 2 ...think of it as a new run altogether and you should be fine, you’ve got this
