returning post incident with a fence

Having graduated a few months ago, i have another graduation run to look forward to next week. Thanks to stupidly running into a rather solid fence (dont ask..it was dark..i swear the fence moved and jumped out at me...im stupid) and getting rather bruised ribs for a reward, i had to give running a miss until i could move/breathe without it hurting. This week whilst not fully recovered running has proved less painful than turning when lying down, so im back in the game. First run i went back to intervals, with 6 mins, 5x1mins with recovery and an 8 min to end. Yesterday was 20, so plan is hopefully back to either 25 or the full 30 on the next run. Watch out for solid objects on those mean streets everyone!

Those pesky fences move pretty quick when no one is looking.

I will add an extra note in this guide to post C25K running healthunlocked.com/couchto5... advising that running into fences should be avoided.

Keep that comeback slow and steady.

"be wary as an enthusiastic graduate when running at dusk on woodland trails, dangers such as wild animals, tree roots and ninja fences await the unwary"

I’m sorry, but that did make me laugh until the injury bit. Welcome back. I’m watching out for these ninja fences, who’d have thought it?

I have since scouted the area where the imcident took place...and tbh have struggled to identify the culprit/how the hell i hit it full on in the sternum, so ive gone with the ninja theory. Took me a week before i could laugh at myself without it hurting!

I slipped a few years ago on a slope, twisted as I fell and managed to punch myself full in the chest as I hit the ground... broke 3 ribs... months of pain. Don’t think I could deliberately hit myself hard there if I tried

*wince* mine were only bruised and that was painful enough. and nothing to do other than wait/painkillers.

Yeah, I was taped up and sent home with co-codamol which I didn’t take!
