Bye bye August, ending on a high

August has been a very quiet month for me running wise. Been out of action and feeling quite sorry for myself! But I managed one walk /run /walk /run /walk while we were away in Scotland and then today felt up to a "proper" short run in the local woods. I can definitely feel that I have lost a bit of fitness - the hills were trickier than they used to be and I was bright red for a while afterwards. But my hips, knees, etc all felt absolutely fine and I really enjoyed it. Was aiming for either 15 minutes or 2.5km of solid running and ended up doing 2.6km in 21 minutes. So pleased as this feels like the start of getting back to where I was. Will keep going with the physio exercises, go for a couple more runs in the week and hopefully get to my local Parkrun next weekend. My local woods don't quite have the majesty of the Scottish Highlands but I did see loads of pheasants and a few naughty squirrels! πŸ˜‚

Thanks, Buddy34 - am really hoping that September is going to be a better running month for me! Ages ago, I signed up for a local 10k in November, not sure if I am going to go for it but it's starting to feel like it might be within reach...

August was rather quiet for me too running wise but starting slowly again and loving it. After 2 more runs I reckon you'll be back to your normal self on those hils..

πŸ˜‚ My "normal" on the hills is not much to write home about, tbh! But yes, hoping to quickly get back to just the usual amount of huffing and puffing...

it includes swearing too for me in addition to the above...

Thanks Joggingonthewildside - I am really chuffed and no twinges yet either. Just got to be sensible and not try to do too much too soon...

Excellent .. I’ve been out of it for most of this month but determined to get back on track in September. Just trying out Rock my Run as I sit in a French campsite! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚β›ΊοΈ

Thanks and yes, me too. I didn't really relax and enjoy it for the first half because I was just waiting for something to go wrong... Hopefully I can feel a bit more confident next time out.

Well done getting the run/walk done on holiday and a great comeback run just after. You’re back! Pleased to hear that the legs felt good. You’ll soon be back where you were with some nice easy relaxed runs.

Good to hear Debston. Beautiful scenery to run in. Squirrels always make me smile 😁

Thanks, Oddity! The squirrels made me jump - lots of sudden rustling in the undergrowth! Naughty things!
