Well, that was my first ever run and I’m sorry to say I finished in a worse mood than I started BUT I did it. Myself my better half and our seven year old all went out for the run, not that our daughter needs it. Trouble with going out with others is that it can become quite unsociable as we are at different levels of fitness. My brisk walk is quicker than my partner and I found myself doing a U turn back to her, briskly. Roll on Friday when we do it all again.
Oh god!: Well, that was my first ever run and I... - Couch to 5K
Oh god!
The best advice for this situation that I read on here is to find a circuit and run in opposite directions around it... then you can go at your own paces and high five as you crossover. I’ve done this with my daughter virtually every time we’ve run together.
Great job though... the run is done. Enjoy Friday, hopefully it will be a little more fun.
It is much more of a challenge trying to adapt to suit several different sets of needs and abilities. Well done you for your commitment to your family- you’re my Tuesday hero ! If I were you I’d try to get out solo sometimes too, so that you have times of focusing on your own needs. Then maybe you can just enjoy your family runs, without feeling you can’t achieve your goals then. Hope it goes well for all of you. Happy running ! 😀
Well done. It gets easier. I'm on week 4 and each week is easier even though it's longer runs. I can definitely feel my fitness levels improving. Keep it up 😊
My son and I used to do circuits of our park in opposite directions (as he is much faster than me). When I was finding it tough to keep going sometimes, the sight of him running towards me gave me that little lift I needed to carry on!
Trying to run at someone else's pace is not a good idea.
Either run on your own or try the suggestions above.
I kept to my own pace and eventually ended up doing circuits in a playground as my daughter got bored. As was mentioned above we passed each other at various intervals.
