It’s my last week. I’ve felt the programme has really helped me get back into running. I definitely a km off achieving 5k I think that may come with a 40 minute run. 5k in 30 minutes seems quite fast?
Good luck with everyone’s tins this week

Less than 10% of graduates hit 5k on the programme, you’re going to be in some very good company with the rest of us.
After this, and some consolidation work, you’ll be capable of a 5k, and with more work you will probably be capable of bringing that 5k sub 30 minutes.
What matters is you’ll be doing 30 minutes of cardio 3 times a week and have added years to your life expectancy... great job, relax and enjoy your last week, then decide where you want to go next.
Less then 10% don’t achieve the 5k on the programme - that’s helpful to know and yes I’m definitely very pleased to have increased exercise in my life.
Cool. Tomorrow is my graduation run... I may possibly be able to push it to 29:59 for 5k... but I’m not even gonna try... I’ll run 12 minute miles at most, so 36ish minute pace for 5k... and I’ll stop, hug my daughter who is also doing the same run, probably shed a tear, and then get home. Job done until the next start line. I’ll be a proud member of the 90+% club.
Have a great run tomorrow
Thanks
I don’t know if I will do mine tomorrow now as have a cold 🤧. Or is that a bad excuse 😂?
Well, you want it to be a pleasant run! If it’s on your chest certainly not gonna be anything but hard and a struggle, if not it may be just fine... see how you are.
Thanks doc 😁
Hehe. I don’t think I can wait though... little one is almost as desperate as me to get out there... told her we aren’t going out at midnight though
How old is ‘little’ one ?
She’s hardly speaking to me... signed her up to race at your pace... and she has assumed the 10 mile challenge is one run... I’ll tell her in the morning that it isn’t 😂😂
Ooo exciting times ! Good luck for tomorrow- will be awaiting your post 🍀
Oops... misread your question... she’s 12
Haha thought maybe safeguarding issue 🙈 okay oh I’ve got one of those ... full of energy at that age !
No, think her age is allowed. Was gonna put her on eBay but they don’t allow it 😂
Too much energy and yet when I first suggested running she said “ok you enjoy it” so I didn’t. She put on weight as a young kid when on steroids and never used it, and I didn’t see her getting bigger and bigger. So, when she suddenly asked when we were running it was a case of grab an app and get out there. We eventually got pointed in the direction of C25K after struggling with Nike Run Club, great training app, but you need to run 20 minutes on the second run, so not for us back then. Week 1 she struggled, week 2 was OK and she said she’d lost weight... not a prayer she had... but the tape measure came out and she had lost an inch off her waist... she measured again last night, it’s now 5 inches gone!
Yeah just a guide
Thats less than 10% DO GET to 5k in 30 mins.

A slow 5k is as far as a fast 5k.
Enjoy! 🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻
Don't worry about distance, don't worry about pace you've got it nailed. Well done for getting to this point. After graduation you can extend your time running each week and you'll sail past 5k. Enjoy your graduation week!!
Don’t worry one jot about your distance in W9! You’ll be running for 30 minutes each run, and that’s what counts.
Enjoy your graduation week, and we have the bubbly on ice and a space on the podium waiting with your name on it! 😀
I think its more important to do the distance regardless of time. We are all doing this at different times in our life. I'm 52 and I know for certain someone is on here who is 20 years older than me. Its unreasonable to expect all of us to do 5km in 30 mins. The important thing its got us out there and I know we all feel better for it!
I didn't achieve 5k but I don't think it matters, just running non-stop for 30 minutes is such an achievement. I have now done 5k quite a few times but it still takes me about 35 minutes. Some days it's a lot easier than others so best just to go with how you feel on the day...and enjoy!
