Ready for Tuesday

W9R2. Out early to get to junior parkrun for 7:30 so that I could fit this in. Today was rare for me, all alone and running in the morning, just me and a couple of dog walkers in the park. So, headspace run on as my soundtrack today, that was always going to keep it slow and steady (see Oldfloss, I’m a good boy!) and the commentary on my run was so relaxing... not much thought on the process, some on the breathing, but very aware of my surroundings and myself... I have to use this guided run again. The time just flew by and as I wasn’t really aware of time I was right across the park from my car at the end... good brisk walk over to it and joggers on, before another walk around marking the course out and I was set to give my legs a rest and exercise my arms with a lot of clapping. Watching some of them go it occurred to me that one of these could become an Olympian, that 4 year old doing his best running with mum could be the next Mo Farah.

So here I am... ready for my last run of the programme on Tuesday... and I’m taking the original Mo with me... Tuesdays run is “Just Go with Mo”. I can’t wait.

Yep. What are your plans after you graduate? I’m going to do a couple of weeks 30 mins consolidation. That’s where it all went wrong last time as had to have an op the day after I graduated🙄

I’m gonna do six more 30 minutes and then use Nike Run Club and take me through a 5k race plan, and end that on a parkrun just before Christmas. Then in the new year I’m gonna start the full length 6 month 5k plan to end on a parkrun. This will be my shot at my 25 minute goal, but will also take my long run up to 10 miles. I’ll keep going through next summer and then if all is well I can sign up for Marathon Du Medoc for September 2020. I’ll have 11 months to be ready so 5 more months on 5k plan to keep my long run at 10 miles and then 6 month marathon plan, with some wine drinking training too! After all that, I’m just gonna run and have fun!

Do you have any plans/goals?

Jeez you’ve not planned much then 😲 I’m gonna have to take time to read your reply and process it before I get back to you on that 😁

No, I don’t like to be too organised 😂😂

I can’t wait for your graduation post UNM! You’ve completed this programme with such enthusiasm, you’re always one of the first to encourage others on here and you deserve to smash C25K and bask in your graduation glory for a long time!

Champers is on ice, your badge is being shined as we speak, and there will be a whole bunch of us cheering you over the finish line!

So gooooooo UNM! Smash the run on Tuesday and savour the moment! 😀😀

Thanks... it’s been a very emotional journey, some of which I’ve shared on here, and I’m sure Tuesday will be too. As well as Mo in my ears I’m gonna have each and every one of you guys in my mind. Some I’ve followed since I arrived here, others passed me while I was injured and yet more that are sharing their stories and in the earlier stages of this. I have a feeling I’m gonna finish the run broken, but also fixed.

You are more than ready for it 😀

Enjoy you graduation run and good luck not that you need it

Where can I find the Headspace run Unm? I’ve just downloaded Headspace but can’t find it in the freebies, or do you subscribe? Well done on your run - I can’t believe you’re not a graduate already you’re so knowledgeable and helpful!

UnfitNoMore profile image

I do subscribe, but it’s not in the headspace app. It’s in Nike Run Club, there are a few headspace runs in the guided runs section on there.

Great, Thankyou 😊

Brilliant! Well done UNM, we'll all be looking out for your graduation post on Tuesday to help you celebrate!!! Like the look of that guided run, I'll give it a go when I get up to 30 minutes. Your plan for your future runs sounds great, I just looked up Marathon Du Medoc and had a chuckle at the first headline I saw... an old post from 2014... but I can't imaging what drew you to that particular marathon 🤭😜...

Thanks... well I have to do a marathon... but it has to be me... so I looked at some ridiculous ones, and that one stood out, can’t think why either 😂

in reply to UnfitNoMore

Well, you’re going to need plenty of grape juice to do a Marathon! 🍇

And I did spend years training for that half of it 😂

I've prepared the glasses for the champers, vacuumed the red carpet and placed a "Reserved" sign on the podium. Well done!!

Fantastic! Love your post 5k plan, and also the recommendation of a podcast to run to. I'm one run behind you, W9 r2 on Tuesday for me, looking forward to hearing about your final c25k run, hopefully before I do mine as I am sure it will motivate me!

Thanks. I’ll be heading out 4:30 - 5pm as little Miss UNM is also running her graduation at the same time... which reminds me she’s been sat around all morning, I’d best get to the park with her!

You’re gonna do just great on Tuesday. See you on that top step.

sunshinefish profile image
sunshinefishGraduate in reply to UnfitNoMore

We may be running at the same time, I "try" to get out for 4 pm after work, straight out so there's no messing or missing it, and it also fits in with the kids evening commitments. Have to get them out of the door for my run before they get settled on the sofa after school!

Fantastic that Miss UNM has got her graduation run too! One of ours did the programme with me until week 5 but has never got back into it, and another kind of is faffing around on Week 1 once a week with me, but that's awesome!

Thanks. I just looked back at your graduation post... great to speed read what you’ve done since too. I’ve joined bridge as I am kinda gonna go to 10k, not much choice as I’m heading to a marathon at some point!

Looking forward to your graduation post!😸

Thanks. Today was easy, I do run better when I don’t think about it... not sure what that says about my brain 😂

Katnap profile image
KatnapGraduate in reply to UnfitNoMore

That you need to sneak up on it? 😸

Morning runs help to do this 😸

UnfitNoMore profile image
UnfitNoMoreGraduate in reply to Katnap

That could be it... I usually run in the evenings, hard to zone out sometimes... I guess a 5:30 alarm on a Sunday does that automatically.

Fantastic UNM!! I have done that run many times myself!! Love it!! Well, graduation run is next!! That’s brilliant! You’ve done an amazing job, not only in running but helping and inspiring others too. Including myself. A very big thank you to you for that! 😍! Not only are you most certainly UNM you’re a non smoker who’s reclaimed their love of running and I hope that feels as fantastic as it should. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 Have a fantastic graduation run! Champagne is on ice! 🤩❤️

Thanks Fab... we pull and push each other along! Graduation run for us both, no way I’ll do what I was thinking and up the pace... I’m staying with little missy every step of the way. Then Thursday I may have a little go with more pace.

No victory cigar! Champagne gonna taste so good.

Eek the final graduation run!!!

I’m so excited for you and your daughter.... you will smash it of course, but I wish you all the best of luck!

You’ve always given me sound advice - and to others. It has really spurred me on and made me challenge myself, getting me to where I am now. You’re a fab coach and I thank you 👍😊

Reading your plans, graduation sounds like a beginning for you and in no ways an end..... gosh it sounds like you’re going to turn into Forrest Gump with all that running!!!

Enjoy a rest tomorrow then go smash it Tuesday, look forward to hearing all about it 😃🤩
