Woohoooo WK5 Run 3

Wow. 5 weeks ago I could barely run 90 seconds! Still can’t quite believe how I have got this far. Trying to keep the self doubt at bay is hard work. I still can’t quite get my breathing in a pattern though. Killer of a run but worth the feeling at the end even though I resemble a sweating tomatoe!!! Anyone got any hints on breathing. My pace is a bit slow but concentrating on time not distance if that makes sense. Still feeling chuffed though. 😀

Great job... the changes over a few weeks are amazing to say the least. I got my breathing sorted by not thinking about it... some podcasts and guided runs helped there.

Maybe I am over thinking it and will try to switch off a bit to see if that helps. Hoping to use w6 to up my pace to get my lungs working harder. Who knew running was so hard. I don’t think I thought of anything when I ran as a child. I just ran 😀

I’d advise against attacking week 6... run one demands disciplined pacing! Don’t let it fool you, it’s not easy. In general too add distance or speed... so week 7 is all the same, run one slow, two slow, three maybe a little faster (towards the end)

I marshal junior parkrun on a Sunday... a couple of fast ones with perfect form, then through goes another whippet with everything wrong style wise but they’re quick, and in time will become faster then the two in front... and then loads more of both types. All of them land feet well, no heel strikes. Most of them breathing well... no technique but good. You’re right, we lose it as we get older and need to think!

I feel exactly same. Can't believe I'm at week 5 and once completed you do feel better. My breathing is helped if I have good music with a rhythm to it and keep at a slow running pace. Sure there are some experts that could give advice?
