Mrs Smug - NOT! here .... I was inspired by my fab friend testarossa123 - to try and do this mad thing ie get off my couch and run! I actually am an ace walker- with my man and my dog. Do 6k - 10k walks prolly 2-3 times a week. And 5yrs ago I did go to the gym - ok - only once a week but was fine at running on the ole machine for about 25mins non stop with some rock beats in my ears. So I thought .... smugly ... oh week one will be easy peasy lemon squeezy .... ahem.... wrong wrong oh so very WRONG! 1st pathetic 60sec run made me weak at the knees - arghhh! Could hardly breathe - thank heavens for the 90sec walk ( easy peasy ect ) .... was shocked at my appalling state! Just goes to show that if one hasn't done any aerobic activity for 5 yrs one must start at the baby beginners level and the only way is obv .... UP! Just done run 3 - a bit easier now have rock beats reinstalled in my ears - can't believe how CLEVER the app is as Mr Jordan interrupts at the appropriate moments, music quietens and off I go again. But I feel heavy as lead, with lumpen feet. I'm no sylph 5' 6" - 10st 3lbs - and nearly 62 - how the hell did that happen?! Determined to improve, get a little lighter and DO IT! Adjusting halo and going for a lie down....
1st week / 3 runs in the bag...: Mrs Smug - NOT... - Couch to 5K

Great pikkie and well done you... did you check out the post for Newbies... loads of great info there..
healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Running is so, so. different to anything else we may do... many folk on beginning this felt they may collapse and die in the first week... many ran near hospitals... just in case
Take it slow and take it steady..keep up with the walking...and just do this, trusting the plan and having confidence in yourself..
We have all been there... and we are still here... ( me.. started at 65 and still here at 68
Keep posting... and enjoy

Welcome and well done.
Contrary to what Oldfloss said, I didn’t run near a hospital, but I had tapped 99 into my phone so I could hopefully complete the dial as I keeled over. The first week is tougher than tough... finding the right pace is a big challenge... I found week 2 easier, I think because I started counting the runs off from a lower starting number. Have fun with week two and in a few months you’ll be running those 10k walking routes you have. Enjoy your journey.
