I have literally just got back from my final run to graduate and am straight on here to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone on here for all the support, encouragement and great comments. I haven't posted a lot, but I've read so many posts from others that have assured me that all my feelings, both physical and emotional were quite "normal"! This site has been invaluable to me.
For all those that are just starting - I still remember my very first run. I felt so embarrassed to go out and had visions that everyone I bumped into would wonder what on earth I was doing to be panting as much as I was and turning the colour of beetroot! When I came home from that 1st run I even struggled to sit down and get up from the couch my thighs were screaming at me to leave them in peace! I honestly thought there was no way I'd get even halfway through the program, so much so, I didn't tell anyone I was starting it apart from my husband who I swore to secrecy, I wouldn't then have to explain how I'd failed.....my oh my how I'm going to enjoy seeing the shock and surprise on their faces when I tell them I can run for 30mins!
I'm not very fast - I just cover 4K in that time, but I'm now so determined that running 3 times a week will be a regular thing for me.
Thank you C25K & thank you everyone for the words on here - what an inspirational lot you are!

Thank you so much, what great info in your guide. Love the 10% rule and will use that as my way forward but think I'll just start with a few more weeks at the 30min mark to make sure none of this was a fluke π
Well done, I graduated just over a week ago. Like you, I don't think I'm getting as far as 5k, but I've repeated the week 9 runs 5 times since then, and am playing my own music over the app to keep me going.
Hi there! Well done you! I think I'll follow your lead here and stick to a few more weeks at 30mins. I'm so chuffed with that time and just want to consolidate and feel comfortable with it. Repeating W9 here I come!
Well done - such a great feeling. I graduated a few weeks ago and still running 3 times a week. Like you, I didn't do 5K but managed to complete 5K last week, took 35 minutes so still a bit to go but actually enjoying running. Hope you go from strength to strength. Parkrun next?!
