I guess I'm being chased

In the past when people have asked me if I run, or have suggested we run to catch a train, I responded with "I only run if something is chasing me." Today I did my second run on C25K.

In February this year I weighed myself (something I generally avoid) and realised I weighed 20st 9lb. That's *weigh* too much. I started on a diet which has only wavered a couple of times during business trips and today I weigh 16st 3lb. I still have a way to go, but I feel healthier. The weight loss has started to slow down now and I figured I really needed to do more exercise too, but wasn't convinced I could.

As fate would have it, last week I was late for the train and I ran for it (I was as surprised as any one else was), it wasn't pretty but I got there seconds before the doors closed to the cheers of my friends who were smart enough to be on time. I don't think I could have done that in February!

Fate stepped in again when I watched Have I Got News For You and there was a stand up bit about exercise in which the C25K app was mentioned. I downloaded the app and went on my first run the following day- I'll be honest, it sucked! But doing the same run again today was surprisingly far easier and I actually want to keep doing it.

I guess I'm being chased.

Great isn't it? Huge well done you... slow and steady as you go:)

Well you’re faster than me then, anything chasing me passes me pretty quickly!

Welcome, great job getting those runs done. Running may or may not add to your weight loss, but it should tone you up, you could well see inches coming off you in the not too distant future.

Great job on that weight loss too... slow and steady is certainly best there, the slower it comes off the easier it is to keep it off.

I figure it will be a bad sign if imaginary beasts start passing me!

The diet has been pretty easy to follow. I'm a vegetarian so when I'm away from home it can be a bit more difficult because I basically have to eat whatever is available. I think overall the weight has been coming off at a reasonable pace. I won't mind too much if it stays at a slower rate, I mostly just want to feel healthier :)

Thanks for the welcome!

C25K is where the magic happens..... it's been a life changing experience for me.

Not just good for the body, its positive impact on mental health has to be experienced to be believed.

Since starting W1R1, I have been delighted to discover that running works much better than any pill to lift my mood!
