I started the C25K app this morning with run 1, as part of my mission to get fitter, healthier and shift some weight before I turn 40 in February.
I’d had look on here before I set out for some information and advice and felt encouraged and hopeful from previous posts.
I had serious doubts I could run for 1x 60 seconds (let alone 8 x 60secs) as I am overweight, unfit and allergic to exercise. I dragged along my best friend to support me and keep me going and I am utterly amazed to have completed it! It was by no means a fast pace or a pretty sight but I did it! #Feelinggroovy.
Well done! Pace is not important there are many people (including me probably) that graduate and are still not running at the pace to achieve 5K in 30 minutes. The important thing is to complete the time allotted as the coaches will constantly tell you. You can do this 👍
Well done, you’re off the couch and you've started a process that will improve your life. Week 1 was the hardest for me, you'll be amazed at how quickly you get stronger. Keep going and good luck!
Well done on getting out there. I felt exactly the same as you on my first run and now 3 months later I’m a 3 times a week 5k runner. You can do it 😄😄
Thank you for your lovely comments and encouragement. Bit stiff in the legs this morning but still on a buzz from yesterday. Looking forward to seeing how tomorrow’s session goes. 🙂
Well done, I managed my first run on Sunday and am debating whether to do my 2nd run this evening, it depends on the weather as I struggle (even more than usual) when it's hot.
Yikes! I’ve just come back from W2,R2 and I’ve really struggled! Not sure why as the other runs were hard work but seemed achievable, today I’ve got painful ankles and throbbing knees!!! I am in late forties and haven’t done anything resembling running since I was in the netball team aged 15!!! I’m worried now for the next one on Thursday 😬
I have to say my ankles weren’t happy yesterday, nor were my calves but I’m hoping it’s because they were in utter shock from sudden use. (I think my thighs are in delayed shock today). Hopefully it’s just a blip for you and it’s just our bodies getting used to it.?
Lol thanks good to hear I’m not the only one struggling. Did my 3rd on week 2 this morning, managed something that slightly resembled a run 😬 got back and had to pop some ibuprofen!!! I’m praying that this gets easier. Next one Sunday! How you getting on with your ankles?
I’m sure the majority of us thought that when we started but look at us now! Graduates and others well into the program. If you find it tough come back here - we’re your cheerleaders! You can do this.
Well done on getting off the couch!! You have just embarked on the most amazing journey ....you will learn things about yourself that you never knew before and never thought possible!!!
