A bad day to run

Well we got a call last night at 2:00am from my mum in law’s emergency response team as she’d triggered her panick alarm. Having driven over and picked her up from the floor we waited a number of hours for an ambulence to arrive, fueled by the strongest coffee I could make. Hours later I find myself in bed unable to sleep due to adrenaline and caffeine overload, wishing I could get off to sleep...

Fortunately for me I didn’t have to get up and go to work (no such luck for my husband) so I did catch up on some sleep although I could hardly class it as quality! Anyway this morning’s run was week 4 run 3 a distance which I’ve already covered. I set off without the usual injection of caffeine as I thought I’d cut that out after the nights over stimulation - big mistake, I was knackered right from the outset. Strangely in my mind I thought I was running faster than normal but post run analysis on my I-Watch shows my pace was quite a bit slower than normal, must have been my desire to rest getting the best of me-oh dear.

Anyway as a consequence of all that I go into the challenge of week 5 on a mental downer although on a more positive note I did complete today’s run in less than ideal circumstances so maybe it will be ok. Here’s hoping...

Wow... after all that I’d have taken the day off. Completing a run under those circumstances is pretty amazing. You should be very proud of yourself in achieving that. I can’t see anyone here thinking in anything other that positive terms about that run. Very well done.

Hope mum-in-law is doing well.

Wowser, what an awful night you had! You should be proud of yourself for getting out there. Who cares about the speed of your run - any run is better than no run, and the fact you smashed it after all that you went through is amazing!

Hope your MIL is ok, and hope your next run is less eventful! 😀

10/10 for attitude. I too would have thought about giving it miss today. Regardless of the circumstances, you finished the week so no reason to be down about that. No need to hope it'll be okay next week, you can definitely do it. Hope the M.I.L. is okay as well.
