Pace. Well, it could be the walking, could be the run length, could be the rain, could be you slept 20 minutes less than last time, could be you’re a new runner and pace will be erratic for a while, could be lots of things.
Now, I know the weather in parts of Scotland batters the skin, but I’m gonna go out on a limb here and assume that you’re not 18, and that you’re not doing this in conjunction with an Olympic selection programme to go and defend either of Mo’s golds for team GB. Assuming I’m right, nobody is gonna cut you from any programme based on pace. Pace is, completely irrelevant right now. C25K is all about running for 30 minutes at the end, nothing more. After that you have a few weeks consolidating what you’ve done to decide where next. So maybe 12/13 weeks after you started this is the time to first look at improving pace, and I’m sure you’ll find it. Track by all means, I do... but don’t think about the pace, certainly don’t dwell on it. You’ll need your mind focused on getting to 30 minutes.
You’re doing really well, just beat your first step up... you’ve got all that this takes.
