I’ve only just joined the community and am glad I did after finding that I wasn’t the only one suffering sore legs after W7 and to hear the recommendation to keep going. So today I did W8R1 and measured my total running distance (first time to exclude the walk measurement). I managed 3.33km in the 28 minutes. I’m concerned that at this stage it’s not close enough to 5k. Does anyone have any advice/thoughts? Thanks in advance!

90% of people completing the programme haven’t hit 5k in 30 minutes... the programme is about changing your life and fitness, and it’s the 30 minutes bit that does that. Don’t worry about pace or distance in the slightest. After week 9 you’ll be able to choose where you want to take running, then get yourself a plan according. You’ll speed up durning those plans.
I was in exactly the same boat leading up to the end of the course, and I think many people are. Just get through the course at your own pace. I done the whole C25K on a treadmill so I knew my speed and pace. My goal very quickly changed from “couch to 5k” to “couch to 30 mins”. Only now after course I’m going to try and reduce my 5k times and run outdoors.
Don’t worry at all about distance. As has already been mentioned, very few reach 5k in 30 minutes at graduation. Some never do! Just concentrate on the length of time you are running. Can be slow as a 🐌 if you like!
