The conditions were perfect this morning for me to start week 8. No rain yet, no wind for once, and nice and cool at 6am.
I set off after the warm up, telling myself that the half way point is only 1.5 minutes longer than last week's. Maybe the conditions helped, but I seemed to get in to a nice comfortable pace and rhythm.
I was still feeling ok with the pace when I passed what had been the halfway point in week 7. I decided to push on to Hove Lagoon, which I thought would be a little after the halfway point. Sure enough, Jo told me I was half way just before. I turned around and started ticking off the landmarks as I headed back towards Hove Lawns. The Big Beach cafe (Fat Boy Slim's place), the tennis courts, the bowling green, Mrs Bumbles Cafe. When I reached the King Alfred swimming pool, I was still feeling ok with the pace, but starting to wonder when the 5 minute warning would come. Finally, after I had passed the King Alfred, Jo told me I had 5 minutes left. Still feeling ok, I pushed on until Jo told me to stop. I had definitely gone further than I expected, but it was a big surprise when I checked my run on MapMyRun, 5.1km!
Having such a flat course (I feel a little guilty when I read posts from others talking about hills and such like) helped a lot, as did the conditions and I know it is the time not distance that is important, but still, it gave me a huge buzz to beat 5km! 😌
8 weeks ago, when I was struggling to run for 60 seconds, a 28 minute run seemed to belong to another me in another universe, but today I actually did it!

Don't feel guilty about not having hills some people are just lucky where they live I am in east anglia supposedly flat but there some hill where I live because we live in a valley but well done you are nearly done just 5 to go enjoy it and when you graduate decide what you want to do next.
Lovely post, I am very envious of you, running along the coast. And what a fantastic distance in the time. It won't be long now before you get your nice shiny graduation badge.
