Well, by some sheer miracle I've managed to get my fat butt out of the door at 6.30am 6 times these last two weeks and completed W2 this morning. Who would have thought?? I can't even run across the road and now I've managed 90 seconds of slow, steady running. I'm insanely proud of myself. I am a bit nervous of the 3 minute runs next week... I do feel 90 seconds is my limit at the moment ๐ฎ
So questions my fellow runners...
I wear heel cups in my shoes as I suffer from planter fasciitus and have been running in normal cardio style trainers. Should I buy some running shoes? Can anyone suggest some decent ladies' running trainers that won't break the bank please?
Next item - rain jacket. The colder weather will be here soon although this morning it was a tad chilly so wondered about a cheap ladies waterproof jacket. Any recommendations please? Week 9 for me will be mid October so don't want the cold/wet weather to put me off.
Thanks for any replies - amazing, inspirational lot you all are!!! X๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐

Me too... and me too!! W3 R1 tonight. Trying to trust that I can do it and hoping that I can wangle it so my 3 minute runs are downhill or flat areas only ๐ good luck to you both!
Well done! Keep going! Iโm only about a week and a bit ahead of you and because of over pronation I decided to go to a running shop because my knees were getting sore and still after only 2 weeks... so they looked at my gait - made me do a couple of jogs and advised me on what they thought was best. Knee pain gone almost immediately- so I strongly recommend you think about getting those new running shoes! Well help.
I don't know about heel cups etc. but a proper gait analysis and the right shoes are invaluable. Prices vary but you can often get last years style or colour cheaper. If buying online make sure they are the correct size as different makes and styles are not consistent.
Don't fear next week, you have finished week 2 and week 3 is nothing you can't do.
Scared ๐คทโโ๏ธ Donโt be. Youโve done the hard bit
Yeah get some running shoes There is no need to break the bank Last yearโs models are our go-to choice ๐. there are tons of posts here about running jackets and shoes so do have a read ๐
Just keep going slowly and carefully. Thatโs the key to unlocking the whole thing
Thanks everyone for your encouragement. Misswobble, I'll take a look through the posts for jackets and trainers. I'm going to get some new trainers to minimise injury and then there's no excuse to finish the C25K programme.
I can understand how you feel, I am struggling to get past five minutes jogging. I have just gone back and repeated previous weeks to try to build up my stamina . I am not sure if this is ok ? - comments welcome but I just felt the pace was moving on too fast for me. I felt that rather than give up it was better to keep going. Regarding your feet I have similar problems and have to wear moulded insoles that I got from Physio or I experience pain in my feet/ knees/ hips etc . I tend not to wear a jacket as I get too hot and end up carrying it. After trepidation I have ventured out in the rain and I enjoyed it. Thanks to everyone on here for their support !
I will do the same if I don't succeed in week 3 Pebbles18. The 90 second runs were long and just about manageable for me, the 5 minute run terrifies me but will see how I go on Monday. I'm going to do some stretching exercises over the weekend and look at some good trainers. Good luck, any running is good and plenty of people on here have taken longer than 9 weeks to complete the programme.
After gait analysis my trainers only cost 30 quid (and then I had to get insoles which were almost the same again) but still, haven't broken the bank and so much more comfy than what I was wearing.
I was advised, when I honestly thought I couldn't do the next week, to just try and keep moving forward and only if you don't manage a run to try it again.
I felt like I was going to throw up after my first 60 second run.. but keeping the mantra 'slow and steady' in my mind I've recently done 25 minutes non stop! It works!
That's amazing and just what I needed to hear. So much good advice on here and it's all honest experience by new runners. Thanks so much for posting, I am definitely getting fair analysis done.
