Just finished my first run in a pair of old trainers, jeans, sweat-top and winter jacket trailing a JRT dog that wanted to stop and sniff EVERYTHING!

But I managed 7.5 mins of 8 so feeling pretty proud of myself right now.

Scheduled my next run on Wednesday may do it without the dog this time 😂

Give me a week or so and I may invest in some proper running attire too!

It’s not essential - I’ve reached week nine in the same ordinary clothes and trainers I started in (I do wash them occasionally lol !) If you’re on a limited budget, start with the shoes. My best tip for running in ordinary clothes: change your top as soon as you get in, to avoid chills. Happy running 😀

Thank you, I may try to get some cheap stuff to start off with and keep on with my trainers I have for now.

👍

If you wear normal sizes, a lot of people here have been recommending Lidl for starter gear, if that helps ?

Good tips from ButtercupKid there, well done Dianacan, and yes you can, old sweatshirt, dog and all!

I started in cut off jeans and an old T-shirt. After a knee injury I invested in decent trainers and then I couldn’t not finish C25k because I’d invested money. This whole running thing has since cost me a fortune in Lycra but I can now do 10km, so money well spent. You’ve done the hardest run: the first one. I’d leave the dog behind and go for it. Welcome to C25K 👍

Thank you I’m going to get some cheap running gear (not the trainers though that would be a big mistake).

Thank you for the words of encouragement though . I’m going to see about doing it without the dog too (although he may sulk 😂) .

Decathalon have some good stuff at the cheap end of the range. Most of my stuff is from there.

I agree with the clotges trend because anything goes, ive reverted back to treadmill indoors

I bought new trainers as i find stability is far greater and i dnt fancy a busted ankle, but good luck with the running, it took me 3 weeks to perfect wk1, but im thru to wk2 now n its a little tougher

I didn’t know you could repeat a week, if you don’t mind me asking what was is it that made you repeat week one?

I’m concerned that I may over do it soo will take any advice!

I was struggling n almost walking here n there, I felt i needed to fully do to the app

So, if you click on the last day you did, you can follow it through again n repeat it

Thats how i re ran day 3 x3 times till i mastered it to the last 5 secs

Hope that helps, slow pacing is best n thsts what treadmill has given me

Well done for getting started! 👍😁

Be warned... It's addictive and so is run shopping 🤣🤣🤣

Just make sure there's plenty of room in your trainers for your toes to spread and stretch forward, most of us start out with trainers that are too small.
