WK 8 run 3

Just finished the last 28mins run today but does/has anyone suffered from panic attacks while running? I have completed C25K in the past but my anxiety is much worse at present and it’s been a real struggle - I hate seeing people while I’m running and I can’t focus on anything else other than their potential negative thoughts about me (I’m sure J’m not even on their radar!). I even wear a hat to hide under 😹

I have only completed 1 run and felt very ‘obvious’ but I kept telling myself this is about me and not the people I pass ....who don’t know or much care about my health. To be fair, most people are not that interested, because lots of folks run, so you keep on going and focus all the time on how well you are doing. Change that record in your head and come up with a new mantra to repeat. You can do this, keep going! Best wishes!

There are running with headspace guided runs on the Nike app... as you’re about to go to 30 minutes I am pretty sure they have one that matches your C25K stage. They get great reviews and are all about relaxing as you run.

I’ll have a look for that, sounds great!

I use their meditation app and it really is great, just need to get my running to 25 and then I can use their shortest run as my soundtrack to this.

If they are like me other people are thinking good on you for being out there and doing it. I’m a post grad c25k and am now focusing on 10k training. I’m probably the slowest on the sea front but who cares? No one, every runner I encounter says hello or waves breathlessly and the more you use the same route the more friendly folks become. Keep going, wear earphones if it helps you zone out and forget other people but if you engage with them you may be pleasantly surprised. 😉

That’s so true, thank you for that 🙂

I used to think like that until I realised that most people have their own lives and problems to focus on and you're not that important to them at all. Don't worry about them, just remember that you could be judging them in the exact same way that they might be (although they're probably not).

Not what you're looking for?
