Tell him not to worry, itโs just your other love makes you feel amazing for hours ๐
Graduate, consolidate and then look at speed... it can come with specific pacing work, longer distances or just plain old practice and progress, depends where you want your running to go. If youโre looking at 10k speed over 5 should come pretty naturally.
Thank you. I do end up grinning most evenings. He must wonder what Iโm up to but seriously just running gets me smiling. Increasing my distance for speed??? Seriously??? ๐ฎ
I may miss your graduation as I will be away for a few days, so I will give you this link to a guide to post C25K running now healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Get your graduation run under your belt, enjoy the feeling, then consolidate for a few weeks, I did 5k 3 times a week for 3 weeks, then started to run a bit further, that helped to get my 5k times down so that eventually I have managed it few sub 30 5ks
The way to get to 5k is to forget about 30 minutes. Donโt try to increase both pace and distance at the same time. If you add three minutes to your run each week (for example) it wonโt be long till youโre running 5k. Then decide after that if you want to build up to longer distances or focus on pace instead.
Keep to your 30 mins for the time being, just to get your legs used to it. Try some different routes, have a bit of fun and relax.
When you're comfortable with that increase the time OR distance of your normal run by 10% and no more (the famous 10% Rule). Leave the other two at their normal 30 mins and no more.
Increasing either time or distance for all your runs in a week could injure you.
Just take it gently and as misswobble says, don't sweat the 5K thing. As you get used to running distance and pace will improve gradually.
There are whole bunch of different thrings to try, but for now just smile, realx and run around happy
Liking the idea of 10% rule.... I think it will begin to stay the same for a week or until comfortable then move and push myself forward. Iโm thinking if I have got this far already I will get there eventually some how. Bring on the graduation first. Looking forward to my massage reward ๐
