Pacemaker C25K Club...

Today I graduated! Didn’t think I’d make it... it was a struggle from Week 1 but I persevered. For me, I started this program to take control of my body. I’m 52 and on my 8th or 9th cardiac Pacemaker and 2 years ago had open heart surgery... I got quite low and unfit and put on a bit of weight after the surgery as it was a very slow recovery... I started the journey by altering my diet back in February by giving up sugary things and carbs like potatoes and rice etc for Lent and then began C25K. Every run was hard but I’m glad I persevered. This site really helped me. I have now graduated and lost 12 kilos too. I’m writing because I want to say to others who look on this site for encouragement, that if I can do it then really anybody can... I’m especially hoping others with pacemakers might be spurred on. I’m a bit slow but I plan to carry on and in a couple of months when I’m a bit faster maybe I’ll do a Parkrun and see where things go. Anyway thanks to everyone for all the helpful posts on here that have spurred me on and answered lots of my questions.

Congratulations! Well done, and good weight loss too.

If you enjoy parkrun, you could volunteer as a pacemaker with a pacemaker one day 🤪

Inspiring words, happy running, wherever it takes you.
