Hi all managed to overcome the calf niggles of yesterday and got out to do my week 9/2 run which went well. The slight annoyance was the strava app on my phone looked as if I done my run in a helicopter across fields rivers and roads and told me my pace was 1min per k. I know the C25K app is the important one which was fine. I just would like to have seen some details of my run, oh well it’s technology what can you expect😀

It’s not Strava, it’s the device not having GPS signals at all times in your run.

Great going on the run... one to go!

Oh it’s my iPhone which recorded ok last time but now I have a gps heart rate watch also which missed off the first k perhaps they are interfering with each other I guess I’ll only try the iPhone next time 👍

It’s more likely the leaves on the trees, or possibly a bad assisted gps on the network. The watch is gonna be full gps, so use that as a Strava input if it’s compatible as it will be more consistent.

My health app on the same phone managed to record the right distance which has confused me no end..

Is the watch linked to the phone? If it is that’s why there’s a difference... watch feeds into the device, but I believe you need to tell Strava which gps source to use and it will default to the device it’s running on.

Hi my watch is one of the cheaper Chinese ones that only links to it’s own app. I wanted a Garmin but didn’t have the cash available (hopefully Christmas) don’t know why I got it really I can’t see the screen without my glasses and I can’t run in my glasses but it seemed a good idea at the time. I am also running the strava app direct from my iPhone which worked fantastic first time. As you suggest it may be the trees/poor gps signal today. It’s just a little frustrating having to delete the run so it didn’t mess up the stats as I was hoping compare run would kick in so I can see where I’m struggling and where I’m managing ok

Apple health must be picking up that GPS from your wrist if it is accurate... but that makes sense as the phone has to see it for its own app to work.

I will try it without the watch next time but like the HRM or disconnect the Bluetooth from phone to watch as watch will upload data to app on phone after run and just use the open strava app using my phones gps signal it’s all a bit confusing really I’d swap it all for an extra lung or some young legs 😀

Hehe... if you find somewhere you can make that swap, gimme a shout, I need some!

Gremlins 😀

Well done Runsome , only one more run and you'll have graduated and that is amazing!

There must be gremlins abound today, I use Jabra to track my runs and today it told me I ran 3k in 12 mins and the route map, like yours, looked as if I'd done the whole thing in a helicopter and it wasn't even the route I took!

Fingers crossed for no technical hitches on your graduation run :-)

I think your right gremlins seem the explanation when it comes to tech. And thanks for the encouragement on graduation I can’t believe it’s here 😀

Anything that bears a passing resemblance to a tree can knock my GPS out. One of the joys of technology-enabled running around.

Only one more run and then you can measure out a LOT of string :-)

Good idea. Low tech is best😀

We need to get used to post-Brexit reality lol

Yes your so right I will have to go back to measure that string in feet and inches and pay for it in shillings and pence 😂😂👍

1-minute per kilometre, that is fast, on one of my pre-graduation runs, my app told me I had ran 1 kilometre in 9 seconds and that was over water, not along the side of the loch I was running.

You must have been going so fast you were skimming over the surface like a stone😀
