Map my run or Strava?

I’m using map my run at the moment. I’ve just completed Week 9 Run 1. Map my run is fine. It gives me my split times which is handy. Does strava offer anything that Map My Run doesn’t? Just thinking post graduation really?

I like Runkeeper. You can choose a voice to talk to you to give you update on time and distance and pace. It's funny too. Keeps me entertained!

Ooh thanks. Anything that can bring a smile to my face whilst I’m running sounds good to me 😃

I’m using Nike Run Club because that’s what my son uses. Does the job. I did try the Stava app and had a poor experience with it tracking where I’d run. (Er... in the river?) I also disliked the intrusive exhortations to upgrade. However as everybody else seems to use it maybe I was doing something wrong.

Not sure what phone you have but I use my Samsung Health app on my galaxy and also the Fitbit app. Samsung gives me more stats but the Fitbit shows me my heart rate. Seem relatively accurate on distance.

I like Strava. I was using it when I ran-walked before and was glad to have it available now I've restarted C25K.

I have connected it with my Fitbit. Strava analyses the heart rate data and gives me estimates of relative effort and other information, which I find interesting. I also like the "segments" it has, because it makes me happy when I see I have done better on a segment than previously even if maybe overall I haven't done so well. I also like that some of my Facebook friends are on there. We give each other "kudos" for our activities, which makes me feel good. I do pay for the premium membership, because I like to support sites that provide me with good things.

I leave my phone at home and run with my tomtom watch, when I get back it downloads to the tomtom app on my phone, then automatically sends it to Runkeeper (I track on there if I go hiking) and strava, (which I use for cycling).

The main reasons I sync the data to strava is you can split a run into segments. This lets me split the warm up and cool down walks from the main run, so shows my average running pace without the walking sections slowing it down. Maybe this gives an indication of how long it would take to do 5k.

Also you can make your own private segments. Because I run the same route most of the time I have made a segment out of a lap of the lake and it compares every run I do so I can see if I’ve progressed.

Not what you're looking for?
