W9R1 Off-roading & comparing Strava to Runkeeper

I nearly didn't go. It's so hot and I was tempted to stuff my face with ice-cream. However I didn't want to end up changing my mind and not being able to run because I was full of ice-cream.

I didn't know where to run but didn't want to do previous routes as the idea was boring. So I set off and went all over. I went to nice places I've discovered before and carried on along footpaths i didn't know were there. I came out MILES away and decided to run back along the road. Then I found another footpath...

I've had such fun! And learnt much more about the local area. It was a much hillier route than I'm used to.

I also trialled Runkeeper alongside Strava. I liked being given 5mins markers by Runkeeper, along with pace and distance. According to Strava I did ran for 17mins and covered 1.9km. According to Laura I walked and ran for a total of 40 mins. According to Runkeeper I walked/ran for 42 mins and covered 3.9 miles. I prefer Runkeeper, it's much more accurate, but I miss the map that Strava gives.

Feeling really excited about the off-reading and wondering what I might find next time. Hoping to do a park run on Sat and seeing if I can improve on 42 mins to complete the 5km.

Now stuffing my face with veg and protein. Result!

Looking for map I've found the Drill Instructor so have turned that on. I can set who can see the map, but I can't find it. Is it supposed to see the route once you've done it?

It just comes up when you look at the list of all your activities?

Found it! I have to do 2 clicks to get to it, but it is there. Will use Runkeeper from now on 🙂

Ang33333 was it you who said Drill Sargent makes you laugh out loud? I put Runkeeper on for Park Run and laughed out loud. I then had to explain myself to the lady next to me 😁!!

Excellent! 👏😁 was waiting to see if you went for ice cream in the end! 🤣 well done you. Having had to cycle off-road uphill full of ice cream previously myself I can tell you you made the right choice 🤣🤣🤣

I'm surprised Strava was so far out. Exploring locally is such fun and opens up a whole new world. We have loads of vineyards, horsey gallop places, farms and hills nearby so plenty to explore 👍😁
