Hi all,
Do any of you wear compression socks? Do you find they help? During a run my lower legs ache massively and I'm wondering if they would feel a little better with the socks? I'm currently doing wk7 run 3 coming up
Thanks x

Hiya Hun,
I wear compression sleeves as I have short huge calves so the foot bit is always way to big for me but they’re the same principle. When I started the C25k 7 weeks ago I found my calves were locking, burning and going numb in places my husband an avid runner suggested the socks/sleeves and I’ve been wearing them ever since. They don’t take the pain away totally but makes it bearable and once my calves have really warmed up the ache eases off. I’d definitely recommend them, decathlon do them, I got mine from the internet as I have chunky 19 inch calves. X
That's great thank you, I'm hoping they will just take the edge off the aches! I'm a nurse so suggest compression hosiery to patients to aid poor circulation so I'm thinking they must help with running?! X
Ooh go to see your surgical appliance place they may be able to ‘borrow’ you a pair to try before you buy. X
I wear calf sleeves which seem to work for me, so, worth trying, are you stretching well after your runs? and of course you know about good hydration..
I follow an nhs guide that I printed off the internet for post run stretches and I make sure my 2 litre bottle of water is empty at the end of each day, i never used to drink water and survived on 5 cups of coffee a day, not good! I've just ordered a pair of compression socks so will give them a go, thanks x
Hi
I had a similar issue but with my ankles and after advice got running socks & believe me it relieved quite a lot of discomfort : as a heads up Aldi are selling the long running socks at £1.99 (I buy the short ones from there) so might be worth giving them a try - all I can say is they work for me and wouldn't dream of going for a run without them
