This is a personal thing. In my opinion it depends how it is going for you. If you are not struggling too much in the runs and are able to stop and walk when you need too then park run should be fine. I was nowhere near 5km when I graduated and if I had tried Parkrun it would of floored me never mind going at week 7. Parkrun is great because you can walk it as well, the problem is it is very easy to get carried away and forget to look after yourself.

You could maybe include your 5 min warm-up walk at the start of your parkrun, then run 25 mins, then walk to the end? Or 10 min walk, 25 min run, walk to the end?

That would be just like a normal w7 run with some extra warm-up/cool-down walking....

I did it this morning at the end of week 6. I was the slowest there - I did do the 25 mins though reasonably easily, my breathing was hard work to start with and I kept thinking I had made a real mistake BUT the Marshalls were lovely and so supportive and I ended up walking for 5 then running for 25 then walking for 10 and running the last 6 - I won’t decide TIL next week but won’t rule out doing it before I graduate 🎓 so go with what you think is best for you!

If you think you'll overdo it, consider attending but putting on Week 1 or Week 2 and just repeating it until the parkrun is over. That way you won't be running any more minutes than you normally do, but you'll be putting in a consistent effort from start to finish.

What they said... also maybe go down one week and meet these strange folk who get up early every week and see for yourself the various sizes shapes and fitness levels on show. Maybe volunteer to help, most runs are always looking for help. You’ll see that if you’d gone to enter it, you’re a long way from the least fit person there.

I walked my first ParkRun in week 1 and then did the third session of each week within it. ParkRun is pressure free - run, walk, do whatever you like 👌🏽

I think I should stick to week 7 then and not try run before I can walk thank you

I did my 1st park run this morning for my graduation and found it the hardest run yet, maybe because I wanted to do 5k in 30 mins, which I just failed to do. But there’s all sorts of folk on the park run, plenty walking a bit, some with dogs and one guy pushing a pram (yes he beat me!) As long as you just want to do your w7 or W8 run why not? Just take it easy and stick to your pace - many folk go off too quickly and end up walking anyway.

I just posted about my 1st park run. there were people there doing intervals - I'm pretty sure they were on c25k and also quite a few people who walked sections e.g. the hilly bits or whatever. If you think you will enjoy it then give it a go - it's a lovely atmosphere or if you're more nervous (like me!) then build up to it as a target post-graduation.
